Here is a 'how to' (courtesy of SuperMod, mikealder) on converting favourites to a custom .ov2 poi file. Once that is created, simply copy the new .ov2 file to the specific map folder on your new unit. The advantage of this method (creating a custom .ov2 file) is that whenever a new map is released (like within the next week or so ), you just copy the .ov2 file [along with any other custom ones you've downloaded or created]...

3D POIs out of place on 130S
Published (2009-11-12 17:30:00)
I've heard lots of people mention POIs off by a quarter mile, but it's never happened to me. I always use 2d mode and never thought that could be the cause. You're the first I've seen that correlated it with 2d mode vs 3d mode. Do you have a few specific POI examples you can post? I'm curious if I can duplicate. I'd also suggest calling Tomtom as they log these types of issues and the more calls they get the more...

I was trying to search the forums for postings regarding creating your own POIs via csv and converting to ov2 files... the search engine wont search for 3 letter words! Is there a FAQ around? I actually was trying to use someone else's POIs and had some oddities, so I was looking for a more comprehensive FAQ. Using this, the CSV file wasn't processing the phone number... One 125 Impressions
Published (2009-11-15 18:53:00)
Ordered online from Walmart last Monday and picked it up on Friday. So far I like it. The maps seem accurate and the naming of streets is a feature that I did not not think I would miss, but I like that feature quite a bit as it turns out. Time will tell how much we like it in the future, but so far, I like it. One feature I wish it had, I have used Garmins with this, is a way to browse POI's based on certain criteria. For instance, I...

I have had a look at the location suggested above and do not have any map files in that location. So what oculd be my way out of this? Can I transfer files from a newer tomtom one onto my older tomtom one? Would that work? I surely dont want to pay again for map files which I have already paid for? Thanks again Lisa

Liking a mechanical issue since its (to the best of my knowledge) not a software issue. Although its very odd its "healed" itself.

I had the same problem and saw an earlier post...if fixed my problem. If your not getting your GPS Quick Fixes when you hookup to "HOME", which I wasn't, it was taking my XL 340.s about 2-3 minutes to find the satellites. DHN posted a fix and it took care of my problem...here the fix: ************************************************** ************************** Delete the contents of the ephem folder on your unit using...

The 130 was the low end TomTom model and did include a map of Canada. Then TomTom decided to bring out an even lower end model last year JUST for the States with just the US map.

If you turn on the unit some distance from the last noted location when it was shut off then it may take a few minutes with the unit in an open area to capture the gps signal again.
Getting new gpsquickfix files on a regular basis sometimes helps the time capture. Resetting the unit may help. If you do a pin reset (if your model has a dedicated reset hole) or holding the power button for ...

A tomtom does not verbalize 'recalculating' like a Garmin does.
However, TomToms are pretty good at doing quick recalcs and therefore catching up to where you actually are.

You do not. But do the Explorer backup first and then delete the files. Then, as long as there are no issues (shouldn't be), you can use Explorer to remove the files from both the unit and the backup.
Better safe than sorry.

Delete the contents of the ephem folder on your unit using Explorer. Also delete the subfolders in the ephemeris folder on your computer found here:
C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Downloads\complete\ephemeris
Now, connect to Home and try the update again.

The blinking green light is not normal. The only thing I can think of is the usb cable you are using is faulty. Try another one.
Other than that........sure seems as if the internal hardware on the unit is not able to get and retain a charge.
Can you try connecting with the car charger and see what happens. If the unit still blinks, then I guess it's broken.

When you look at the contents of the unit using Explorer, do you see a map folder? If not, was the map that had been there the one that came with the unit or was it an update from an earlier map? If an update, it's probably still on the computer in this location:
C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Downloads\complete\maps
If not an updated map, do you have a backup...

For starters, reset the unit (your model requires pushing the power button for about 15 seconds) and see if that helps.

Make sure you have a full Explorer, not Home, backup of your unit's contents. Ensure hidden files/folders are showing.
Also make sure the unit has a full battery charge when you want to use it.
