I always try trips in Google maps first, Here it is . Well, my 930 is acting up again like with the Virginia test and it will only allow King of Prussion and Erie as destination cities in Pennsylvania.

Google maps isn't really a good test anymore Arno. There's quite a few roads that no longer match up.

You could do it yourself but to be honest replacing a battery in the 910 is far from easy, the battery was the very first component fitted in to the middle of the aluminium chassis and everything was added around it - its not an easy job at all so I can understand why the chap is reluctant to change it for you - Mike

I have both versions...just stick with the mac version it works great (no difference in features AFAIK ). To back up, when the unit is connected to your mac, just select the internal drive in the finder, open it up, select all (command-A) and drag to a folder on your hard drive...then repeat the same for the SD card (if you have one installed)...do not just use the TT back up feature.

Are you sure that all the tracks are indeed mp3 format as these are the only type of music file the device will be able to read/ use, if they have been copied from your PC to the device they could be in various formats so its worth checking the file type by looking at the SD card using Windows Explorer - Mike

Thanks for the reply. How do I use the "Latest Map Guarantee"? I saw it on the box, but I can't figure out how to implement it.

I got stuck in the same thing. Anyway, I upgraded in Aug to the 8.35 from 8.4 and then got the map update. She guaranteed I would get FOUR more updates, not including the 8.35. So, I paid $12 to upgrade from 8.30 to 8.35, then the $46 (or whatever it was) for an ADDITIONAL four updates. So, in effect, you paid for 5 updates.
And the LIVE 740 is $399 at Target, which includes the LMG. So,...

Is there a folder named Western_Europe or UK&ROI or similar on the device? if there is what is it called and what size is it. This folder contains your map data and is locked to your device, all the other stuff can be downloaded from TomTom at no cost - what anti virus software are you running (at a guess Norton 360) - Mike

I thought the four times update was slightly cheaper than the single map update, also the 4x option gives you four new maps over a 12 month period so its the better option all counts as far as I can see - Mike

There are loads of different ways to navigate to a POI although the device will only list the nearest 24 or 48 depending upon device and software version, the center point for the search can be via a point on the map, in a city or near to your known location etc. A custom POI file can contain thousands of individual locations and they can each be stored with a phone number where applicable - ...

The LMG is just the first FREE update you get when you purchase a new device Eldorado. Not the map subscription or notification that a new map was released for your older Tomtom

Welcome to the forum, thats quite some "fun" you have been experiancing with the device!
Firstly can you check the type of route planning you have told the device to use, if its set to shortest this will explain some of the strange routes you have been seeing, Change Preferences/ Planning Preferences and you should see quite a few options to force the device not to use certain types of ...
