The problem is that Gecko based browsers can't place the caret in an empty element or after elements unless there is a BR element there. So Gecko and TinyMCE will inject BR elements here and there and mark them as bogus. They will then be removed on serialization. But sometimes they might not be removed for example if the elements are modified or copied using a copy/paste procedure. Basically if they loose the bogus mark they will be...

Just to clarify - the reason we want to know this is because we want to print the output of TinyMCE onto physical products, and therefore to get close to a WYSIWYG experience, we need to know where the user saw the break, so we can replicate similar on paper. Now I've given some background, is this possible?

The mere concept of a non-editable plugin is flawed. Why cant you have several editors on one page and keep the non-editable part outside them? Another question would be why you need to have non-editable parts in your editor at all... Maybe a WYSIWYG editor isn't the best choice if your contents are not freely editable!

Why would you want this behaviour? Just like the editor wraps the text, so should your content holder for the end user.

Check the mode you're using. Since you still aren't showing us much about the HTML, I'd have to guess that the second textarea isn't in the DOM when the page is loading.

There is no need for a plugin. Header data (the stuff between <head> and </head>) could be handled via regular form elements! Just include these things in your form and process them the usual way and you should be fine!
