How Are Your Custom Moulded...
Published (2009-12-24 01:07:27)
First of all, Happy Holidays! Now, for my topic. As some of you know, I like to go out to bars, clubs, sporting events, and such. I always use either foam earplugs (max protection) or silicone earplugs (very good protection). However, the foam earplugs can irritate my ear canals after a few hours, or sometimes even sooner. With the silicone, I deal with the "occlusion effect," in which the earplugs exaggerate the perceived...

Steve Could be something seasonal maybe, or a reaction to something you are allergic to. Maybe eustachian tubes a little blocked? I imagine there are a number of possible causes. I experience new and different sounds that appear to originate from my good ear(non tinnitus ear). They have always been temporary and of varying durations. First few times I experienced then I was concerned, but now I don't worry because I know they will...

No, my case is well identifying: acoustic trauma by car accident with 3 airbags deflagration, in last February, after 23 years of mild T by gunshot in Special Forces. I believe your case is far easier to repair, and I hope so! My hope is the true Neramexane do something for me in January 2010 and induced stem adult cells take care, definitively, of my case in a near future. There is no more hope to T suffers, by what is in trials in this...

Any problems with MRIs?
Published (2009-12-23 21:04:32)
I've had two MRIs, one about 20 years ago (pre-T), the other in '06. The more recent one wasn't loud at all, and even the earlier one was bearable without earplugs. I guess nowadays I'd take earplugs but I don't recall it being any noisier than driving down the highway, probably even less.

Eric I don't know who has figured it out. Just because someone wears earplugs doesn't mean they are doing so responsibly.. I am not suggesting you personally are wearing them inappropriately. I am just suggesting that people not overprotect...

Have to reiterate what oz greg said, "I find that if yu keep busy then you notice it less' and remember what works for one, does not necessarily work for another. I went the same route when I first got the t and experience exactly the same thing, its really trial and error.

Tips on Insomnia with Tinnitus
Published (2009-12-23 18:43:30)
Of course one should not drink 3-4 cups before bedtime. If you read what I wrote I only use a half filled coffee cup before bed. Okay, just use those damn pharamceutials that have "testing" done on them and dispite all the "proven" tests people have very adverse physical effects. Pop your "scientificially tested" pills and live happily ever after. It is a good product. But I will not be...

Any problems with MRIs?
Published (2009-12-24 04:05:13)
No real problem, except the loud noise, and I'm somewhat clausterphobic. Yes, they gave me earplugs, and a small towel to put over my eyes. I never saw how closed in I was, but sometimes I pictured it in my mind, and I would get nervous. I tried to think about beautiful landscapes and the ocean, and I sang songs in my mind.,that helped. taipei, i would help you if i could. i can only offer my heartfelt hurt that you are having a rough time.
you say you dont have any masking devices.. do you have a radio? music on the computer? any low soft relaxing sound you can listen to to get your mind off of
your noise? some people even use fans.
why does T elevate? we dont know. but believe me that if it stays you can get use to it.

Yes the infamous Chloe who no one has seen a picture of. Does she exist? Why hasn't she and her parents, who are physicians made any appearances on tv to
discusss this miraculous treatment? I am skeptical at this point until this story is circulated in the mainstream media and verified by independent
researchers.

I strongly support the stem cell type of research.....I am sure that
someday the use of stem cells will be common for treatment of many of the
diseases we currently have no cures for.......

If your hearing is decent, your ear isn't bad. I'd advise very strongly not to use the earplug. That can cause your tinnitus to rise over time and also
risks development of hyperacusis.
There is some damage to the hair cells. Everyone has some. There are two types of hair cells at each frequency and nearby frequencies interact. You can lose
hair cells at one point and still hear that ...

Nick, A great post. I agree with you completely. But it is always a fine line for me. There are times when I wake up at night for the required bathroom break,
the tinnitus is loud and those bad thoughts return for a few minutes. You know the thoughts; the ones that say "why me", "will I have this
forever?" And then I'm back in bed and soon I am sound asleep. I Thank God that I can fall back to ...

Hi BC85...although I've only had tinnitus for 3 months, I had a similar experience last week. I went to a bowling alley with people from work, and I
didn't bring my earplugs because I had been there before and it hadn't been very loud at all. This time, however, they were playing very loud music.
Stupidly, I stayed for about a half an hour before it became too much for me, and when I got home ...

To add to the complications, one's tinnitus can change, as in: used to be a high pitch but turned into something else; once was affected by sleep and
isn't now.

Well, if it goes away for 2=3 days, maybe the intervals will get longer, and it will evenutally disappear altogether. Its possible, as hormones regulate our
bodies during wakefulnes
why not when sleeping?

As a matter of fact, yes!
Read my post. I can make mine disappear at will (albeit temporarily). I do know of at least 2 other people who have tried this - one being a major researcher
in the field.

Well worth the money.
1. I have no problems with wearing them at all.
2. They do not eliminate the occlusion effect when walking

Juan, that's no reason to stress out. Because of your new symptoms, the doctor may well find something. Then you'll be ahead, having a better idea
what's wrong and what you can do.

Hav'nt been in a chopper, but have flown in a light plane. Wear ear muffs if they are provided or take ear plugs(take them anyway).
Have flown in a military chopper when I was in the service and they are quite noisy from memory.
