If true, I find it very disturbing that the shooter had been flagged 6 months ago, and he was getting ready to go overseas, without any intervention. Sigh. Authorities aware of Hasan six months ago. The AP reports that Hasan came to the attention of authorities six months ago due to internet postings that discussed suicide bombings and other attacks. It is not confirmed that Hasan was the author of these postings. One of the them can be read...

OK people let's not panic. This is typical of the H1N1 virus scare. Cook your ground beef so it's not rare and the Ecoli dies. More people die of the regular flu than H1N1. It's all media hype. A quarter of a ton of beef and two deaths. Yes those two deaths are terrible, but don't panic.

It appears that Joe knows a lot because the H1N1 hasn't even had a full season and he already knows the death count for the future. I know, 1918 Spanish flu was a fluke and it can't happen again. Very true, cooking to the proper temperature does kill the...

The US mint has been actively redesigning many of the coins. We collected the state quarters and it was neat to see all the designs for each state. It became really hard to get the territories when they started that program. While I'm looking forward to seeing the new Park designs, don't think we will collect them. It's really become a hassle to get them from the banks and it's really expensive ...

Wow - that does seem heartless. Perhaps a "toe" print would have worked? On the other hand, perhaps the bank was protecting itself. If the gentleman's name wasn't on the account and the wife was nowhere near, is it possible he really isn't authorized to cash checks on the account? If he is, maybe there is some way the wife can give the bank an authorization statement allowing him to cash checks.
