Hey don't feel bad CAgdma, lots of good info in your nine yards After breeding mini horses for 10 years and having every kind of positional problems it can be very confronting when there is only a small window of time to get it right, you can never have too much info. Cheers Oz

A friend sent me a link to this site for information on goats. http://www.fiascofarm.com/ It was recommended that I check out the site's list for a goat birthing bucket items as we may be in need of them in a few months. I have a feeling I will be busy downloading information for a while.

I don't have links (my computer died and had to be wiped and re-loaded so I've lost all my old bookmarks), but if you do a search for sheep information, you should come up with several good sites. http://www.sheepandgoat.com/ is a good one, but there are some others, too. I've had a few sheep myself, and might be able to help with some questions, and I'm sure there are others here who have or have had sheep. Kathleen

Barry, maybe she has heard that it is going to be a bad winter. And figured what does she have to loose by setting on some eggs if she gets to move inside.

Some people keep them as pets. A wolf or a wolf-dog mix as a pet isn't rare. You could have a stray in your neighborhood.
With exotic animal farms and people keeping exotic pets, anything could be anywhere nowadays.

We plant our garlic in Oct also. It does sprout, sometimes growing 8-10" tall before the real cold of January. We just mulch it, if really cold weather is predicted, cover it with plastic. I love the warmer southern winters.
Just this afternoon readied the plastic cover for the six tomato plants I intend to keep thru the winter. We have some colder weather predicted next week.

I did some in a garbage can, with drainage, covered as they grew up....not ONE potato.
I also did the 4' x 4' sq, SFG with 4 potato cuts in each sq. As they grew up, covered with mulch. Stacked 3 high. I only got approx. 15-20 # of pot., only growing in the bottom layer.
Sure glad our life doesn't depend on that crop! Anyone else have better luck?

I am so sorry for your tremendous loss over the weekend. This is my worst fear as I've recently decided to raise my own. I worked on the chicken coop this weekend. Now I'm really scared as we do have coyotes in this area.
I have read that there are ways to tell what type of predator got to your chickens but I have no experience. I'm hoping someone will be able to give you some sound ...

I still had plenty of them this year off of my big oak out front. Maybe yours are resting for a season?
