My gravy is USUALLY nice and smooth, but the stick blender is my friend when something goes wrong. Right in the skillet, too.

I mix the sauce in the hot pan while the macaroni is draining and use the box directions. To that sometimes I add a tablespoon of Velveeta for a little zing. When it's all mixed back together, sometimes I'll throw in a handful of frozen broccoli if I've used Velveeta. Sometimes I just dump in a can of pork and beans. Sometimes I just cook plain macaroni, stir in some dill, dump it in a buttered dish, put some cheese on top,...

Thanksgiving Disasters

Last year we went to a friends house for his first time making thanksgiving dinner. Made me carve the turkey. Of course I cut in to a well backs innerds pack. Best one though is from many years ago when my mom left the gravy making to SIL. She was far from being anything near a cook. She stirred up the gravy and it was lumpy to point of impossible to get them all out. They took it to the point of putting it in the blender to try and get them...

You've heard the story of the loaves and the fishes. Well, I had one thanksgiving where the turkey seemed to multiply to feed the "multitudes".
Hubby was a staff sergeant in the Air Force, we had three little kids, lived in "base housing" at Castle AFB CA, and we were paid once a month at that time. There was always more month than money. Most groceries other than bread, milk and eggs were ...

A very simple way to make your boxed Kraft Macaroni and Cheese (the tall thin boxes kind) kicked up a notch. One half a teaspoon of tumeric sprinkled into the cheesy stuff just before you mix the hot drained macaroni into it. Any more tumeric would have been too much. Hubby commented on it all night and kept asking me what I did differant. I aint telling........... (I felt like Emeril!)
The ...

Chicken and noodles (homemade noodles would be more satisfying, but a little more work for you)
Tuna noodle casserole (if he'll eat tuna, you said he's not big on fish)
Ham and beans
Scalloped potatoes with ham layered in
Lasagna
King Ranch Casserole
Taco Casserole
If I think of any more, I'll be back.

I always make and enjoy moose bone soup. I save the leg bones and spine, all cut. I boil the bones, and make a broth that is awesome. After that, I add veggies:some frozen corn on the cob, onion, potato, pepper corns.
It so yummy....I serve it bones and all. Just awesome.

hi scandi.
for store-bought oj, when it's a good price deal, i just freeze it, in whatever carton it's in. except glass. do not freeze in glass.
however, i have bought oranges and grapefruits before when they were a really really good price at the farmer's market, squeezed the juice, and jarred it up. it turned out great.
