Post Marathon Depression

13 years ago, I went to school for 2 years for my Cosmetology degree. This wasn't a regular beauty school - in addition to the typical perming and cutting courses, I also had to go for some sociology, math and English courses, etc. I flew through school - np. Also worked in a salon doing hair while in school, to save up money for my state board exam. The big day came. I ended up cutting my mannequin way too short, which was the first part...

Hats
Published (2009-12-01 10:55:00)
I usually wear a hat for utility. Otherwise, I don't like wearing things on my head. For sun and rain, I wear a Tilley hat. It was a godsend when I was in Cuba for both purposes. For the long winters, I have a toque. Of course. The only way I'd wear a hat for fashion's sake is perhaps a fedora along with a suit. But only then, it would require me being outside for a certain length of time. I guess that would be both fashion and...

Am I overeacting to Creationism?...
Published (2009-11-30 23:15:00)
So now you want to claim that to believe in God is so outrageous that it is "trolling"? I think that it shows how out of touch the average atheist is with the common people. The majority of people believe in a God who was the creator of the universe and manking, they believe in the soul, they believe in all of the things I have talked about. The elitist views of some may consider that faith is worthy of contempt and scorn -...

Around here, most of the large real estate firms...

No, ignoring what people are posting and sticking to your inane point regardless is trolling. And, as I said above, most people that understand and accept evolution believe in god. In fact, there are atheists that don't accept evolution. This has jack to do with belief in god, so don't...

Depression after illness/fever?
Published (2009-12-01 20:13:00)
I've been sick since the second week of September. Despite my generalized misanthropy, I'm generally a cheerful person. I've certainly been more easily agitated and upset since I got sick. The endorphine rush of exercise helps, but I won't be particularly happy until I'm healthy and have my sense of smell back.

dude, ive been training for my 1st marathon that's in mid january for a few months now, and i sit here as i type this with an aircast splint over my left ankle wondering if im actually going to have a chance to have enough time to train for it. i worked my distance up to 26km almost a month ago now, and ive missed opportunities to do things with friends that people do once in a lifetime. so you could say that ive got pre-marathon...

Sleep Apnea.
Published (2009-12-01 16:14:00)
yeah the problem is, sleep apnea is probably more contributing to my overweight factor than anything. I dunno Micheal Moore lost a crapload of weight and he was talking about it, basically something he said kind of drew my attention to it. He was talking about how having a good sleep schedule is important. If you stay up late and act like a rock star all the time thats one thing, but if you're just up late cuz you're watching...

Hats
Published (2009-12-01 10:32:00)
Tom Landry's hat is a fedora. Pinched at the front, with the brim rolled down. I can get behind a hat like that. I don't do anything so vulgar as purchasing my hats. Their acquisition involves a week long trek, and the fires of mount Doom. Okay, the real answer is that I got the infamous fedora at a mall kiosk. My secrets are now laid bare.

Dunno, dude. My first half-marathon is weekend after next. I'm pretty pumped for it.
I'll say this: to work toward something the way you have to work toward a marathon, and then have it fall short of your expectations... Seems like at the very least some disappointment is to be expected. Whether or not the shortcoming was in your hands.
Also, from the reading I've done, it seems that second...

Having preferences doesn't make you shallow.
Easy answer:
Don't do anything.
If she presses it:
"I'm just not into you that way."
If (unlikely) she demands to know why:
"You're not really my type."
Honest, no name calling. This is how mature people handle things like this.

sorry to hear that. I dread that very much for my 2 different tenants. This is why I have a property manager. I don't have to deal with the dirty dealings of having to evict someone. I've done the process before and they paid before it got ugly. It still wasn't pleasant as a teen knowing that I was going to be putting someone and their family out on the street.
Just remember that you have to ...

I don't have any specific facts, but it never fails that when i become seriously ill with flu, bronchitis, whatever - i end up depressed. I can't quite figure out which comes first, the depression which leads to illness or the illness that leads to depression. I just know they are definitely linked in my world. Usually, once the illness passes though, I feel better both physically and mentally. ...

I think the whole "Theory of Evolution vs. Creationism" is a non-starter. It's comparing the sciences to philosophy or religion.
It would be like starting up a discourse/debate on "Cell Theory vs. Preformationism" and using it as a way to decide how we move forward in human medicine.
Um, no. I refuse to believe that we all, at one point, floated around--intact but miniature--in either ...

I use a CPAP now (machine) and I'm dreaming again for the first time in years. My insurance covered all but about $100.
Some of the cheaper machines are "less" effective, if they work at all, in my experience.

I don't think it cheapens the value at all. I'd totally give plasma for money - in fact, it has been suggested to me in the past as a way to pay for some things. It's actually illegal to give money for plasma in Chicago, but as you can imagine there are places outside of Chicago that do it.

I think you need to do something. Sooner the better. Call her up to talk. Ask if she'd like to see a movie. Or go to a club or go for coffee. Whatever, just do it.
