I would go for Latexplan trade and yes tile the next day. Some would say Mapei Fibreplan but its a bit overkill IMO and there are some who will tile as soon as its touch dry ! Not me.

Use a 6mm tile backer board such as Hardibacker or No More Ply. Fix with adhesive and screws and tile away. That would be my minimum spec and i wouldnt use ply at all.

22mmm if you can get it, 18mm just fit a few extra nogins between the joists. Lay the ply length right angles to the joists.

porsalenosa is an excellent tile well made and very nice to work with which tile is it ceramic-porcelain or natural stone cant comment on pricing in the main forum!

Hi Hatcher, personally I wouldn't try to lay on top, i'd bite the bullet and get the lot up, if the top is bad you can probably expect to find it just as bad underneath.. best of luck mate.
