Quote: Do we now say that tanking should be the industry standard? Fact is techi stuff is taking over houses are becoming more and more reliant on ventilation because of the composition of constrruction materials, kitchens more advanced, electrics and networking becoming more complex, showers more and more powerful. Your fall for the shower base should be 20mm in 1m and the rest of the floor would have a fall of 10mm in 1m. That how much I do anyway. 110mm for a floor is a deep screed

Tuff2 + UFH
Published (2009-11-05 03:25:00)
Standing on the Tuff2 as a check before beginning to tile, there is a slight flex between the drain and the drain-end of the tray. There is no movement along the perimeter or around the drain, (where additional support noggins have been fixed). Is the slight flex normal or should I take down part of the ceiling to fix further supports?

Minefield of tanking solutions -...
Published (2009-11-13 02:11:00)
Hi all - new member here would like some advice on which tanking solution would suit me. The situation is a new build extension garage with an ensuite wetroom/bathroom coming off the main bedroom. Due to finacial reasons we asked the build to stop once the major stuff was done and I'm doing the rest (plumbing etc) So far the room has the following installed Hansgrohe ibox's for the bath, shower and basin and associated plumbing...

I can't remember for sure but on the packaging it says when you can
re-coat, I think it says you should do it within 4-8 hours of the first
coat but could just be making that up. Have you looked at the instructions
for re-coating?

Hi Gareth... it's very simple, just cut your battons to length then silicon them onto the former tray and let it set..then you can SLC to your hearts content and when it's dry, just prise off the battons, scrape off any residual silicon and carry on...

Hello ryan and welcome...
If you have the oppurtunity to replace the sub-floor then i would...and put xtra supports/noggings in to help with deflection issues.
1200x1200 shower...is the 2 walls or 3..?
Adhesive wise..then an S1 flexible is fine( rapid setting) for the application of the membranes and then standard set flexi for tiling if you need more time to work with it.

I would use Dura WP for the walls, stuck with a single part flexible
adhesive from Mapei ( KeraFlex) then tile over that using the same
adhesive.

Hello mark....I would say you need to use Dural Wp on the floor...Ditra
isn't suitable for mosaics under 50mm in size if i recall correct..But the
thinner Dural wp is fine and will work better with the collar on the
drain..

Thats right about most of the grouts, I too have trouble convincing people tanking is the way to go.
I like the membranes, kerdi/dura which is like wall paper but have used a few others.
I even had to make good to someones neighbours house where the shower had leaked thru the parting wall.
