hi, thanks for response guys, the temp sensor isn't too close to the pipes, around 300mm away. we have a towel rail which heats the room aswel, the UFH was primarily to take the chill off the floor. I'm just worried that the adhesives above where the pipes are may be cracking or something..but I guess i cnt do anything now, just wait and see Thanks

That would depend on membrane used but glue gun glue doesnt stay hot long.

I bought one and found it far to slow. Good for the odd lose bit of wire but not for the main area. Maybe it was because it was cheap but tape took no time at all. no need for posh tape gaffer tape is fine. but remember you cant use tape with lose wire. Only on mesh mats.

This is just a thought, if you are tanking a room with a membrane and then glue the UFH to it will the heat damage the membrane?

The central heating is usally a lower temp and as such unlikly to affect the tiling

depends where you have installed the temp sensor for the floor. If it is very close to the radiator pipes it could give a false reading and shut down prematurely. I think the water in the pipes in cental heating can be as hot as 85oC thereabouts. Is the floor the main heating for the room or is it just for comfort?? Best to experiment once you have moved in as you may be worrying over nothing.

This time of year 1mm per day is the accepted drying time although many people will tile after just 6 weeks onto sadn cement screeds. Make sure you put a 1200g DPM under any insulation on top of the concrete substrate and a slip membrane on top. Cure the screed by covering it with a sheet of polythene for 7 days after installation to help stop it from cracking. Commision the under floor heating ...

A call to U-Heat will answer your heating and insulation queries but as for teh chipboard/Ply question, i would definately go for ply...The thicker the better, i would opt for 25mm and insulation of about 10mm. Underfloor Heating | Electric | Floor Insulation | Uheat

I would wait at least 2 weeks, some say longer. Then set the temp at the lowest or there abouts and increase steadily each day.
