By "label" you mean...? MY name for it? Some other name I have to figure out? I already formatted a complete 500gig drive as a DOS drive yesterday, it's empty except for the virtual machine, because that's where I put it.

Perfict, connect it boot MFSLive and see if it shows up with the command cat /proc/partitions.

This time, I just let it alone overnight to finish MRV'ing, and here's the result: 1) Two sets of programs MRV'd over in folders that have no name - they just have the folder icon and "(2)" after the icon (the number of programs in there). Looks like I found the problem. While both are S2, they are different models. My brothers Tivo is a TCD230040 while mine is a TCD649080. Got an image from a TCD230040 and it works fine.

upgrade expanded tivo hard drive

i have a 320 gb hd in my series 2 and would like to upgrade to a new 1tb. i cannot get winmfs to work on my computer. i tried using mfslive but do not know of a command to use to backup|restore. i could only find a command for an original tivo drive to an expanded drive. I would like to tranfer all of my shows so a backup file would be too big. any suggestions? thanks

My Humax Tivo series 2 is showing all the signs of HD failure. I have a brand new 500GB drive I could install, except that I have a Mac laptop, so can't format a replacement drive. Are there folks out there who will format the drive, for a fee? TIA.

I'm sure CAPete is long past caring about this issue, but I was having the exact same symptoms and ran across this thread in my research. I never did find a solution online, but I did figure out how to fix the problem myself. Hopefully this information will help somebody else out some day. First of all, it's not the TiVo that is invalidating the MfsAdd and MfsSupersize. It turns out that you don't have to put the drive back in...

I placed an order with 9th Tee a couple weeks ago, and there's no sign of the order being shipped. I even emailed Mark twice and never got any replies. Does anyone know if they're still in business or what may be going on?

On my MacBook Pro the USB drive is on /dev/sdb remember Linux is case sensitave "/dev/sdB" is not the same as "/dev/sdb"
You can find the drives location using the command cat /proc/partitions the TiVo's drive will be the one that has more then 10 partitions.

So I did a C&DE after the 11.x upgrade, and at least so far it seems fine. I haven't totally stressed it out yet like I did before.
I wonder if a combination of:
- Setting up some ARWL and other SP while on 9.x
- Doing an upgrade to 11.x in the middle
- Hard rebooting during a seeming hang a couple of times after 11.x (which might simply have been slow database updates since it was ...

It sounds like when you did MFS Add the second time(you did it fine the first time) something screwed up. I would start over. Just skip the seperate MFS Add....
