I think one difference between mikek2 & uktuatara may be mpeg2 TiVo TS files vs. H.264 TiVo TS files. VRD can handle the mpeg2 TiVo TS files but not sure about the H.264 TiVo TS files...

The current version is in the first message of this thread. I haven't updated it in a while, partly due to a lack of progress on the VLC front.

Good stuff one step closer. Yes the version I was using the the beta version. With the standard version of TVSuite have done the following. 1. Changed the Ignore Transport Stream options you specifed. 2. I have no H.264 setting to turn on or off so haven't done that. 3. Tried to open a file - NEW error (ha ha it never ends) I can see the file being opened, CPU sits up at 95% for about 10 seconds, then error message comes up ......

"Audio Stream not MPEG-1" I haven't come across that before, so sorry can't help. Try posting in the VideoRedo forums. I know other Aussies have got it working but not sure about Kiwi's. Arrrrrrgh! The bad quality is back! WTF? I didn't do anything. No amount of TDCM fiddling fixes it, even though MainConcept seems to be installed correctly. Help!

For any of you who are using video streaming application or tried one before and wasn't happy with it this is a must try. Keary did an excellent job adding new features, especially the random access anywhere in a video (even for mpeg4) and the ...

It would work either wireless or wired. You would need to be sure to have on your Tivo My Account , under DVR Preferences, 'Transfers' and 'Downloads' Checkboxes checked, if you haven't already.
Since you have the Tivo connected via wireless, its fine, although wired may be faster, but files on the S2 are not enormously huge as it is on a Series 3/HD/XL when its of HD content.
You ...

You're correct that a lot of folks have issues with TiVo supplied software. I am guessing its development is farmed out to some third-world country, and that their in-house quality assurance dept. is one guy who spends a day with it and then says "hmmm… it seems to work, let's ship it!"
My suggestion would be to look to third party alternatives. I use iTivo and PyTivoX on the Mac and it is ...

I love usin' AudiFaucet BUT I hate no AAC to tivo support.
I know tivo will not plau AAC files, but the only files I have on my mac
are AAC, and so I can not use AudiFaucet to play the files threw my tivo.
So I end up using tivo desktop with LAME installed so that my computer can
encode the AAC files on the fly and it will play threw my tivo.
I was wondering if there is any way to install LAME...

I've not tried this but need to. I just upgraded from WinXP64 to 7 64. It may work already because I already had it installed but I will try and let you know.
[EDIT] Now that I think about it. I had to install new (Windows) so Tivo Desktop would not be there. So, I can actually try this and possibly get the same thing.
[EDIT] I just tried and it worked just fine. So, not sure what to say ...

teehee, literally last night I also fixed the abandoned ffmpeg threads on linux too.
As an fyi I don't know if you saw but Desktop 2.4 is out and the paid version offers the ability to transcode from WMV to TiVo. From what I am reading it sounds like you just toss the WMV files into the correct folder and they show up on the NPL.

Are you using Windows 7?
TiVo Desktop Plus 2.8 does not install its own decoders and filters to decode videos under Windows 7. It uses those built into Windows, plus any you have installed. If you don't have the necessary decoders or filters installed, then "push" won't transfer those file types.
If you recently installed Windows 7, you might try installing the latest version of DIVX ...

Yes. Uninstall TD from your computer using the remove all option.
Run the Tivo Desktop cleaning utility. http://assets.tivo.com/assets/exe/ti...topCleaner. zip
Reboot your computer (this may not be required, it's just something I did)
Install TD 2.8
It should work after that.

That file size seems somewhat large for a 30 minute show on a Series 2, but the quality setting that it records at and the amount of action in the actual show can cause substantial variations. I tend to see about 800-900 MB for a show that long on my S2DT. If you want to get better compression during a conversion to another format H.264 or MP4 is probably the best bet, but any conversion will ...

BTW, did you compile the included ffmpeg Universal Binary yourself or grab it from somewhere?

Chris,
I am having similar problems. Based on my review of the transfer logs, i agree that it has something to do with how the MAK is retrieved for tivo to PC transfers.
I do not beleive there is anything unique about my system; Windows 7 64-bit, i have iTunes and quicktime installed but no other software that is tivo related, other then TF 2.8.
If you find a solution, please post it.
