Thumb brake or not?

what mastercyclinder would you use? but, look at the left hand rear brakes alot of stunt bikes use..... they have two levers, one for the clutch and one for the brake. then you'd have 3 left hand levers, clutch, brake and decomp.

What tire pressure should I run in the desert. Currently on Maxxis Desert IT's. Rocking and sandy here. I thought I read 25 front and rear. The little washboards in a dirt road rattle my teeth with 25 lbs, I think I need to air down. Thanks.

Seems highly unlikely that an L would be too rich with a Big Gun exhaust and stock jetting. They are generally too lean without any mods.

Remove all Advertisements Why wear a helmet? I can't ever get the bike into top gear at the high end of the engine's effective range anyway. It is too damn much power. I have one simple rule with this bike: "Make sure you are pointed were you want to go, then hit the gas." Right?

interesting, why would you have a hard time modulating the rear brake? I've never thought or heard of such a thing.

There have been many of them over the years.
A good start would be to :
Click on "Search this forum" at the bar above the forum listing.
Click on "Advanced"
Enter "Rebuild" into the Keyword box.
In the drop down just under the keyword change "Search entire posts" to "Search Titles Only"
Click on the "Search Now"
You will find a few of them that way. There are actually ...

Hi guy's,
Does anyone have the manual for the XR650 '02 model?
I have just installed a CRF450 carburator on my XR650 supermotard.
I'm about to change the piston.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Kristof

not sure about the 650s mate but the 600s had a thing with 2nd and 3rd, normally bent selector fork and worn dog pawls. But with 7500 on the clock i wouldnt think they would wear that quickly, sorry i cant help on 650 know how but it sounds like a selector fork to me.

I, and a lot of others here, like the FMF Q pipes. There's a thread here on them for the R, but they make 'em for the L, too.

What needle are you running and what elevation do you normally ride? Stage 1 isn't a huge jump from the stock cam, so your idea of running one size richer should be close. If you ride 2500-3000 foot elevation, that should be about a 19E needle, 13-16 clicks off full rich on the adjuster, 1.5 - 2.5 turns on the AP . No air leaks on intake or blockage on fuel delivery?
Edit, I ...

Well, the counter sprocket cover seems a bit pricey for what it is but unless there is something similar for less....
I've been wanting one of them since I took off the stock part and it was plastic. How is that stock plastic thing supposed to protect the case? Has anyone had a chain crack the case on their XR with the stock part in place?

The "clunk"....check the transmission gears. The 600 has a notoriously weak third gear, dogs break off and cause damage.
Piston....doesn't look good, take some measurements.
Crankshaft....blueing is normal; top end of rod is galled, looks bad, again take measurement.
Camshaft seat....not too bad, polish it up a bit.
Cam lobe...If it is scuffed and metal worn off, it is ...

Mine are ok,,So am I correct in thinking that your saying that an RM caliper bolts straight onto an XL/XR front end with minor grinding..Handy if it does.

My 650L mil is still strewn about the shop. If you need measurements from a 650L pump let me know the points you want measured.

It's a direct bolt in swap. It's cheaper than the HRC cam and just as good.
I have the stage one cam in my bike and it has a nice mid range hit.
