if i recall. the issue the AHRMA gods had was with Rocky mountains letting the kids race at the lunch break. it didnt cramp, hold up, or mix with the vintage racing, in anyway. matter fact, gave us old guys something to watch. i supported it, and still would. they said to stop, and we wouldnt, they spilt sheets with us. so be it.. i saw nothing wrong with letting the little guys run during the lunch break. took a total if 30 mins for them to...

Remove all Advertisements The air screw has no limiter tab, or maybe it was filed off by a p/o. So nothing to impede adjustment. I got it started yeterday (about 30 kicks), got it warmed up and re-adjusted it as well as the idle, and it starts a little better now. It is right around 1 1/4 turns out, which makes it run the smoothest at idle. Still have not ruled out the stator or coil as has been suggested. But the spark looks ok, similar to...

Just a thought are the cases manufactured in pairs? Ive just bought what looks like a good RHS on ebay, I hope it matches up?! With you on the loctite, colour is not the issue the number is! Scalejockey says he uses 648. We use 271 on the DRZ primary nut, that stops it shifting!

I'm an OEM piston guy and they've never failed me yet. Lately, I've stocked up on a few OEM '82 RM250 pistons for less than $20 each on ebay.

Don't know for sure but I would think the seat would interchange. Rear brake backing plates would interchange for sure, if it is a single cam then any from about 1979 up should fit and if double cam then 84 or 85 I think was when those came out. KTM had a habit of using a lot of common chassis parts across the board on all there bikes.

I am running a 36mm VM Mikuni with K&N pod on my 78 XT converted for vintage MX. The motor is stock with a 1 3/4" down pipe exhaust with supertrapp muffler. I ran it on the street before that.
On the street, I removed the air box completely. On the MX track, I cut the front out of the air box and installed it over the K&N pod. It's not water proof, but it prevents mud from ...

There are a couple different methods that you can use. The electrolysis method that leaves an oxide coating causes problems with caked rust. Here are some coating systems to help you out. Make sure that you follow the directions with the acids.

I have an 84 Honda Cr250 that I would like to have my 14 year old son race Post Vintage at AHRMA races. The bike has a front disc brake making it ineligible at AHRMA sanctioned races. If I put on the front wheel from an 83 Cr250, and the drum brake, can he race this bike? Can I use the 84 disc brake forks with an 83 front drum ...

My new and all-time favorite-Suzuki TS-250. I have an '80 but the '77 thru '81 were all pretty much the same. I also have a Yamaha DT-250 and there's no comparison. (See my comments in the "which was the fastest"
thread.) It pulls like a freight train thru 5th. gear. It's all stock including gearing. It suffered a little from the emissions era tuning but one step up on the main jet is ...

Hmmm.... I've done a lot of aluminum polishing and have what I think is a pretty good process. But, didn't the early XL's have an odd-ish green cast to 'em? And, weren't they not even aluminum, but magnesium? I seem to recall that my '74 XL175 had 'magnesium' cast right in to the cover down near the bottom. Ya gotta be really careful with that.

These bikes (along with almost ALL Hondas of this vintage) need a fully charged battery to run well (unless heroic efforts have been made to convert 'em to battery-less).
The clue is in your own words: you charge it up and it runs great.
Seems you have a charging system problem.
Now, they're pretty straightforward. A permanent magnet rotor spins within some windings to make an...
