Count me in for the 350 you can only emagine what will hapen i think the 350 will be the best of both worlds i have seen it time and time again 250F's running nearly as fast or faster than 450'5 becouse they have les torque they hook up good and when you hammer them they go fast alot of riders build up the 450's true and every one is so concerned with bigger is better but i am faster on my rm250 than on my rmz450 by like 2.5-4...

Use the hot start and just crack the throttle open a little and it will start perfectly when hot. Took me a while to figure that out.

Exhaust Valves Hit

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the 05 has an MCCT , so no spring, but if the tension wasn't set correctly and there was slack of course it could jump. I would start with confirming the cams are set properly. Set proper cam chain tension, and check your valve clearance. If your valves are within spec I would pull them (edit - pull the cams and tappets) out and check the size of shims. Since someone worked on it before its...

Hey thanks bellec and ktmkramer. Your posts saved me a SERIOUS HEADACHE That what was my problem. I took it for a test ride and she ran perfect. Seemed to run better actually. But I figured to come to this forum and start going through all the threads no matter how long it took just to see if anyone had some kind of problem like mine. And boy I got lucky. Thanks again.

If you're only after top speed, just mess with the sprockets. Big in front, small in rear. Peak HP is similar on both bikes, so they should be close.

piston and rings not just piston rings I assume. Either way it sounds high. The difference depends on the compression boost and how well the intake is tweaked assuming a race exhaust

$4750 + $99 (title fee) + $300 +/- for shipping to the house I think all said was right around $5200. What impressed the crap out of me was how they shipped it. Excellent to work with.
They still have them listed on the website at $4999 but if you are not within the state of MIN then you can get it for what I did. PM me...

Who the heck is suzuki going to have?
After reading that article you know what's ironic? How they say the 450s are so powerful that lap times goes down half way through the race and this is where the 350 comes in. Yet when you read about factory bikes, they seem to do a lot of engine work too make them more powerful. Strange logic to me I love my 450 and I full throttle it a lot, but I'm a...

I currently have a 05 RMZ 450 all stock accept it has a 51 tooth rear sprocket that is way to big, it winds out to fast and falls on its face faster i ride alot of off road GP's and some MX would love more performance out of it for riding MX. so since i am new to the newer foursrtokes i have a few questions about mods.

When does it make the sound? All the time, all through the throttle, or at low throttle? These bikes are noisy when they are running good. Does it do it when it is sitting still, or only when it is moving?

I talked to a factory suzuki mechanic and he said even the factory bike start a little cold, and he suggested to always use the hot start even when cold and just give it 2-5 small kicks and then one big one and it should fire right up because the battery has to self charge through the kicks.

Yes, very possible. Just keep checking Ebay. there is a seller called keepitroostin, he parts out whole bikes and prices the parts to move.

is the rim that you have still an excel ? if it is I'd replace with an another takasago or A60, but when I was getting pricing on new ones I think that with the 450's you need new spoke kits for the excels, or I would try the new moose rims, I'am ordering a set pretty soon, and they work with OEM spokes.

I'm gonna skip over the "which is faster" question. The 2 stroke vs. 4 stroke question has been beat to death. Free up a week in your schedule and google it.
Nothing wrong with the '09 RMZ. A bit short on the top end compared to other 450s, but I think it's still got plenty for all but the best riders. Very rideable power delivery, great cornering. No glaring mechanical issues.
