If the CDI is stock,,, it's likely fine,, Seen exactly ONE here since 2003 that was actually known to be bad. The aftermarket ones are very iffy. Has this bike run for you? Is this a new problem? Did it die while running? or just not start the next time you tried? Was it sitting or in storage? if so how long? Do you have spark? Is fuel getting to the carb? What is the battery voltage, key on? Have you tried starting it jumped from a car...

Eddie... I just got your care package. Thank you very much for the loan. The only thing I need, is the oil seal for the decompression shaft. I'll go order one today, so I will have it early next week. After looking over the 2 heads... it looks relatively simple. There is a 10mm hole for the shaft, a 17mm hole for the seal, and two 6mm threaded holes. Making the fixtures, shouldn't take too long, but since we have T-giving...

Remove all Advertisements Well, it's the end of the work day (at least for me), and I'm home relaxing and hiding from the extended family that has come to town for the Holiday. I have 4 whole days off for the first time in quite awhile Some of you may know that I've had quite the year, so pardon me while I very briefly recap....my family and I have been living with my father-in-law and caring for him rather than him going to a...

Alrighty I read through all 20 pages of the MRD/SSW post and from looking at the graphs on the dyno, unless I'm blind, the MRD graph is higher down low, better transitions and just about the same up high. Peak HP is less than .55 lower and peak Torque is .08 lower. I would say that "FLows Better" esp for the price. Maybe its just me but I want my power and Torque down low on the street. Remove all Advertisements Running Thumpertalk Specials (Kenda Trackmaster rear and Pirelli Scorpion front). I really love the DRZ - it's really not that heavy (mine's a plated E) and it's inexpensive to buy and maintain. The scotts steering damper works well and i spent a lot of time tuning the suspension. I just ordered an FMF powerbomb header and powercore 4 muffler (MRD SSW is too loud - but makes the most power).Gearing is...

Remove all Advertisements I currently have an 01 DRZS bored out to a 440 with E cams, RHC valves/springs, 3X3, FCR 39 carb and MRD pipe. I was wondering what would be the cost of going up to a 470 and what parts and pieces would be required to benefit from it? I really like my Z as it is but there are so many times out on the interstate or highway ...

Doh, perhaps I should add that I'm now at 434cc's and running a stock E exhaust and the snorkle is out. I'll probably go to a regular (non SSW) MRD exhaust after Christmas ( ), so will that change anything. Eddie set me up with the original/current specs many moons ago and it has been wonderfully bulletproof. I just think that there may be room for improvement.........

Just run it through the rear wheel. The important thing is that you use a very solid chain, like the kryponite chain, and , very important, you don't let it lie on the ground. Park the bike close enough to the mount that you can wrap the chain through the wheel without havining enough slack that it touches the ground. Although, your mounnt is on the ground, so I am not sure how that will work ...

I just took a quick look and didn't see it for $11 but I am getting ready for work and may have missed it in my haste. I did spot this and it raised my eyebrow. An auto cam chain adjuster fix. Are they joking? Extend the auto adjuster? More reliable than a manual adjuster? There aught to be a law.

Design differences in bikes......not really a debate, do it or don't. If you choose not to do it, don't complain when you have a problem or failure. It is just that simple.
