Hmm...Visa question yet again
Published (2009-11-29 20:04:00)
Hi Many Candians corss borders from Turkey and do obtain a single entry visa no hassle. If you were to be turned back at border crossing you have same results if you had applied for visa to the Syrian embassy in your country. If you name was one the list of undesirable person to enter Syria you would not be given a visa. To refuse a person visa for Syria is a serious issue and decesion is not made lightly,it is for a reason .If you are a geuine...

Yes, this still exists, it is the "ASEZA3 visa. It is just like an ordinary visa except that 1) if you are staying more than a month in Jordan, you have to register it in Aqaba, and not in "any police station" 2) This visa doesn't work if you want to cross into Israel and back by the King Hussein Bridge. In your case, it doesn't sound as if it matters, but anybody else should know that they cannot use this visa to...

True, Marco! Mikkelrev, unless you're bringing over something really special, it's worth bearing in mind that you can get Ksara, Kefraya etc very easily in Damascus, for pretty much the same price as what you can get it for in Lebanon.

A few more questions

A few more questions I really appreciate all the great ideas I have received from everyone in regards to my trip to Syria and Jordan. I have a few more questions that I'm hoping for help with. 1) I read in a guide book that you the hostels in Hama organize day trips. I was wondering if one of these trips would include both Krak des Chevaliars and a couple dead cities in the same day? 2) Is it possible to head to the border with Jordan...

How to get Iran Visa?
Published (2009-11-29 09:04:00)
hi, NO IS NOT COMPLICATED to get visa ofr iran. all you have to do however is to contact a good online iranian travel agency like 'key2persia' or 'touranzamin' or some others! for now i would tend to recommend the latter since they used to be real fast in getting visa for british and canadians. and i think they charge 30 euros or is it 35? as for visa fee, it all depends on your nationality and NOT where or how you are...

It's best to see Israel/Palestine last, because of passport/visa issues. The Israeli immigration people might have a couple of extra questions if you've been to Syria and Lebanon, but Syria and Lebanon will not let you in if there is any evidence of a visit to Israel in your passport. I wouldn't even bring books on Israel to those countries. Lebanon is, strictly speaking, the only neighbouring...

After once getting my cards shut off when I was in Niger and in need of money, I now always make a point of letting my credit-card issuers and my bank know where I will be traveling. I had no trouble withdrawing money from Syrian ATMs with either Visa or my bank's debit card. Check with your bank if you are in doubt. As for booking, phone calls are cheap if you have Skype or a calling card...

Had you reserved through BMI or someone like Opodo (which is what we had done)? Would you post what options BMI ...

Check the tours offered by "Alternative tours", which is based in the Jerusalem Hotel. They have a website, or you can find their contact in the Lonely Planet. It would be more interesting, and cheaper than renting a taxi, as they don't come cheap.

are you sure about the day of the train? i just took a train from Tehran to istanbul and that was a thursday departure at 9:25pm. i thought the damascus train left on mondays from Tehran.... by the way, if you take the train, be prepared for an EXTREMELY long and drawn out border crossing experience (mine was about 3 hours on the Turkish side) at the Turkish border. a good book should do.

Yes, the abscence of a Jordanian exit visa will arouse suspicion. Either you smuggled yourself out or you went to Israel. You need to avoid the entry to Israel, the exit from Jordan, and if you want to travel on, I'd suggest you go back to Amman. You can get from Amman to Egypt by boat. Also, remember that Jordanian visas are issued for one month. So if you go to Jordan for three weeks, Israel/...

I applied for evisa on the site and received a positive reply yesterday, saying that I should go to the specified place of collection (in my case I had chosen the airport) in the delay of 3 days, which is for me impossible to comply with, having stated that my arrival will be in 3 weeks. I'm somewhat puzzled.

Zfactor, I am afraid, it is quite impossible to enter Iran with an Israeli stamp in your passport. So the only thing you can do is to for a new passport.

It's very easy and safe to take a bus from Jerusalem to either Bethlehem or Ramallah. These buses leave frequently from the Damascus Gate. Not at all crazy; thousands of people do it all the time.

There are a number of online travel agents arranging Iranian visa like iranianvisa.com and keytopersia. Having the visa number obtained from these agents you can collect your visa from any Iranian consulate (incluidng the one in Istanbul) and collect your visa. You do not need to be a resident. The visa fee for Candians was US$40, last year.

gla, what are your exact dates? (you can PM me the info if you prefer). I will have a rented car, and could fit 2-3 people and luggage comfortably. See my previous post for itinerary -- I'll be headed from Wadi Mujib to Petra around sunday 29 nov. As it's such a small country, I wouldn't mind a detour (esp. as I'd like to drive up and down the Dead Sea Hwy at some point anyway), and would ...

hi, yes, if you can you should bring them in ORIGINAL 'boxes' or 'containers'.
