Oh, that's one I couldn't finish - Absolom! Absolom! by Faulkner. I didn't try very hard, though, as I really wasn't enjoying it at all. I was supposed to read Absalom, Absalom in graduate school. exactly as much as was needed It depends on what kind of book it is. If there are long descriptions (of scenery, people, buildings, etc.), then pages and pages of text may simply be cut out in making the movie without losing anything at all. You don't need a five-page description of a mountain view when you can see it before you in the movie.

It's November now :) Halloween was good in NZ but quiet. The Zombie Walk was apparently quite popular. I don't think it walked up the steps of parliament though (which it did in previous years).

******spoiler warning*******
I read the book, which I thought was quite interesting, but not for the reason it was intended.
I found the story an intersting study of a person (Ewan McGregor, and also his buddy Charlie) who's totally uneducated about the places he travelled in. He was just a spoiled kid, who liked the dust from under the wheels of his shiny BMW. Everything else was taken care ...
