Sorry S.O.60, didn't read your question properly. Stantour themsleves don't do the tours, but they can arrange darn near anything you'll need in Central Asia (like hotels, transport, tours...)

Herat to Kabul

Yes, that's actually good news, except that i just Googled Safi Airlines and the only destinations they would fess up to serving were Kabul, Dubai, Frankfurt, and Kuwait. They do have a great IATA airline code though - "4Q". I finally found Ariana services to Herat but nothing for Chagcharan. Oh, well, time enough to worry about that when I get to Herat. There are services to Kabul so unless things fall apart (not impossible...

Any airlines fly from Herat to Kabul? Hi, I am trying to get a flight from Herat to Kabul but cant find an airline that advertises that route. Ive tried Kam Airlines, Airiana airlines and Pamir Airways, but no luck. Does anyone know how to book this flight and how much it might cost? (1 way)

Hey so the biggest pass is actually 4,655 meter (15,270 ft) yeah its high but it will be fine! The challenge is what the trip is about if it was easy it wouldnt be fun! thats pretty much the ethos of the trip if i have enough interest the its possible to take two vans or a van and a 4x4 to give the van a hand if it gets tired! i have intrest from three other people so far so it looks possible to take more than one vehicle, if you are up for...

New years in Central Asia

New years in Central Asia Does anyone know if I will run into any problems travelling through Uzbek / Turkmen over the new year period? Do the trains or buses close down at all? I won't be traveling on new years eve/ day but possibly very late December and Early January. Also can anybody recommend any cheap cheap place to stay in Tashkent and Samarkand? I don't care how dingy! Finally will there be anybody celebrating New...

Azerbaijan visa
Published (2009-12-29 12:25:00)
Hi, I've met several travelers over the last year who traveled the route you want to do (ie. Tashkent-Turkmenistan-Boat-Azerbaijan). They all reported to me that it was quite easy to pick up both a Turkemen visa and an Azeri visa in Tashkent. The Turkmen visa takes about 10 days to process (but they don't keep your passport), while the Azeri visa takes about 3 days. You only have to produce the Azeri visa at the Turkmen embassy at...

Inviting party: don't fill this, if you have none, or "n/a" Place of staying: Hotel Intercontinental in Tashkent. A perfect place, trust me. I'm a local travel agent, so this advice costs some :-) Fill this hotel. If you stay at another place - it's OK, because: a) You really wanted to stay there untill you came there and got info about the prices - you didn't like it, so you decided to select...

Tajik Air is not very reliable as you can guess. I'd choose either Turkish Airlines or flying with Aeroflot to Tashkent. You could also check out Siberian Airlines. You can fly from Frankfurt or Düsseldorf to Moscow(DME) and from DME to Khojand or Osh. http://www.s7.ru

Bonjour from Peshawar, I tried to make i in 2004 with a French friend but due to ongoing fighting en route we couldn't make it and after Bamiyan, we got stuck in Punjao a smal town, but I still have the plans to make it someday, the famous central route. I met an Austrian trekker on Everest Base camp trek in last October, who did it in 2007, there was not enough transport on that route but ...

Hi, You better contact the Uzbek embassy, at your home country, they could give you an authentic and better response for that, moreover, most of the embassies ask for a LOI when you apply for visa out of home country at some host destination. I wish you all the luck.

I've flown both, and I'd fly Kam Air. They have a much more organized (and reliable) online booking system. They "get" the concept of the e-ticket! Good luck!
