Well incabod its great to hear the turtles are back, although I lived there for a year and they were just a dream. My friends who are there now talk about the usual sightings in Playa Grande....

"Selva Verde is great, but you cant drive from La Paz to there as the earthquake last year cut the road and you have to back around to almost SJ and then back up." Is this Ruta 126 that is closed - the road from La Virgen to La Paz Waterfalls? ...and if so, is it closed north or south of where it intersects with Ruta 140? It may impact my route to get to Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui from Arenal.

I have travelled a lot with different agencies but I recommend the chicken buses. The driving style is different than in EU or US. But not bad at all. Okay, some people may have problems with the drivers because they drive fast on bad roads. Yes, these roads are bumpy and the drivers don't care about it. I didn't have any scary experience but I know, traveling in Guatemala can be dangerous. They put twice more people to the car, they...

Hi - I am travelling to Tamarindo for New Years and am planning on seeing the turtles, learning to surf and chill out. I am staying at the Hotel La Laguna del Cocodrilo. They have been very helpful and responsive to my questions. When are you travelling? If it is after I get back I can give you the lowdown!!

It depends on which island and which day. There are only two other island you would be staying at unless you are staying at a "resort" but then they will arrange transportation. If you are staying on Caranera (sp) then there will most likely water taxis because there is a very popular hostel/bar called aqua lounge. If you are staying on Bastimentos, then it will be harder. You probably can but it...

yes and no.
Linea Dorada can sell you a ticket through to Cancun, but it will involve changing buses in Belize City and Chetumal (Mexico). These are big, airconditioned tour buses.
The trip will probably cost you around US$60. Maybe a little more.
If your next question is "could I do it cheaper, in relative comfort, using local buses?" the answer would be yes.

Take a shuttle to Guatemala City. If you leave early you can still catch a bus to Tapachula via either Trans Galgos or Tica Bus. From Tapachula, (Mex.) take a Cristobal Colon bus to the northern Mexico City bus terminal. I'd recommend the more expensive service. They have more economical buses but for some coincidence it seems like the next available inexpensive bus is mysteriously leaving the ...

Costa Rica does have better beaches than Peru. But your are right that Peru have better culture and history. Both countries are pretty awesome, so I am sure, which ever you decide, it will be a blast. Depending on the time of the year also, Costa Rica is better in the dry season (Dec - Feb). Peru (highland) is better also in the dry season ( May-July).
Honestly, few things in this world are ...

According to the bylaws of the American Association of Sugar Daddies, there should be an equitable flow of "sugar" in both directions between sugar daddies and sugar babies. (continuation of "animosity" thread, now closed)

Before you come invest in a guide book and maybe even " Costa Rica by Bus" and really study the way the bus system works. In the Moon, for example, read the 'Getting There' section of where you want to visit and note times and places. Find those places on the map a try and visualize what you need to do to make a connection or find a terminal. Take a good look at the somewhat confusing San Jose ...

With three weeks, divide the country into three trips. The Central/North, which will be Liberia, Monteverde, Arenal and think about Rincon too.
Rent a car for this part, consider picking it up in Liberia and dropping it in San Jose. I would also only go to Monteverde and Arenal 2 nights each, you got bigger fish to fry, unless you want to hike in one of the areas alot, add a day. Selva Verde is ...

Gosh, that's a tough one! I had a boyfriend that had never been out of the US, so you're doing the right thing: babysteps. Anyway, it's obvious that you can't stay in cheap hostels: you need a nice room with a private bath (with no spiders) + good food... So first I would focus in on a relatively cheap country, perhaps Guatemala or Nicaragua (I haven't been to Honduras or Panama so cannot comment...

The size of Mexico means it has the sort of regionality, variety and choice that you won't find in Honduras. (Although its fair to say that many Mexicans are no great lover of the Gringo and they certainly make you jump through the hoops if you want to live there!). Everything in Mexico is magnified compared to little Honduras but the political unrest and crushing poverty for average Hondurans ...

In my opinion you have too many days in Montezuma. Your also driving 4 hours just to be in Monteverde for 1 day. Its a rough drive up to Monteverde. I would suggest maybe spending an extra night in Arenal and doing a day trip to Monteverde. You can get to Monteverde by crossing Lake Arenal by boat with Desafio http://www.desafiocostarica.com/index.php?lang=en& opt=transportations&cat=m

Hey!
Went to Nicaragua last year and had an awesome time. Definately be careful on the streets at night. I didn't really feel fully comfortable walking on anything besides main streets in some places and I was not travelling alone. The street lighting can be sketchy at best.
That being said we had a great experience with Quetzal Trekkers. Its an all volunteer organization that leads hikes...

I would rent a car for a few days. Lot's of great places to check out but taking a bus would eat up alot time.
The beaches http://www.ojochal.com/beaches.html and check out Nayauca falls. There's a link on the the Ojochal site for a horse tour to the falls.
There's a zip line park that has just opened this year just south of the new hospital on the costanara too.
