Just a little tip. Soup is a slider food so to compensate, make it thicker/chunkier and pour off some of the liquid if you have to. You don't want your food sliding through your pouch too quick or you'll end up wanting to eat more. And that's why you don't drink with meals too.

All it took for my insurance to cover it was for my doctor to give me a referral. Not only did my doc get me the referral but because I needed to drive to MA to get my tests done, her office scheduled all of the required tests for the same day... the bone scan and mammo were scheduled 10 minutes apart at one facility and the eye exam was done an hour later at another location. Only cost to me was the 15.00 copay for the eye exam.. (well, that...

Feeling bummed and a little lost
Published (2009-12-04 14:12:00)
Thanks for all the well wishes and suggestions. I'm going to take Corrine's advice and start logging my food and see where I am. If the stall continues another week, I will contact the doc about the nutritionist. I think I will go home tonight and reread the nutrition section of the book they sent me home with. Maybe that will help me. I should consider myself lucky I guess because I haven't really had a stall till now. The...

Wasted day at the hospital
Published (2009-12-05 23:17:00)
Well, apparently this medicine I am taking is helping my stomach because I have felt much better. My only issue now is that I continue having double vision episodes. They keep me from driving and working, which is very frustrating. I am calling my regular doctor on Monday and checking in with the eye doctor too as my surgeon did not look into it when I mentioned it numerous times.

Being a diabetic this is one of the things I worry about. I'm currently pre=op and I've been asking this question from the get go and not had an answer yet. When i forget to eat for hours on end, that's exactly what happens to me, this normally results in me doing an emergency feed/over eating, or drinking something really sweet, depends ...

Personally, I think it's essential that you have a dexa scan Kelly.
It is THE only way of ensuring that you have good bone health. Osteoporosis isn't pretty and problems can be avoided if problems with bone mineral density are caught early.
Although your calcium and vitamin D intake is good now, statistically, as a puffy person, you were probably deficient in one or both.

You're on Pureed! I'm not on pureed until I get the go ahead from my Dr and my appointment isn't until next Thursday. My plan is purees 2wks-6wks but we have to wait and be moved up by our Dr. And I'm getting in all of my water but my full liquids it's a no go. I have been getting in 2-3 oz of full liquids at a time before I feel the "...

how about fish? scallops are super high in protein and can go from frozen to plate in like 7 minutes.
personally, though, I kinda enjoy not enjoying what I eat, if that makes any sense... I figure that enjoying eating was what got me to 400 pounds in the first place.

I am happy you enjoyed your self! Not to sound rude at all just curious,
how did you eat two pieces of cheesecake? I didn't know it was possible
after a bypass? Not because of the sugar but, the amount?I eat 5 bites and
feel stuffed!Maybe its because I am only 3 months out?

If you can't even keep water down right now, I would let your pouch rest for a few hours, then try some liquids again. If you can't even keep water down after a while, you will need to go to the ER because you will get dehydrated. But you won't get dehydrated in just a few hours. Don't panic, it will probably be fine. Just wait a while, then try a small amount of water again.

I'm still pre-op, but doing the weigh-ins with my PCP. She told me something interesting at my 1 month weigh-in.
It seems, according to her, that every time you lose 10% of your body weight, your body will reset your metabolism to a lower level. This is what causes plateaus, which suck, I know.
She said the best way to get out of a plateau is to shake things up like adding in exercise...
