Looking for a 720KB 3.5"...

got it, yes, I am the one having the trouble, but I have a few extra 3.5" 1.44mb floppies for replacements, so I don't need any more, but thanks for the offer. Again, I'm not sure I have any trouble with the one floppy, it appears to be a 720k, runs fine as long as I use 720K disks, but it does not read 1.44meg disks. Also the machine itself detects it as a 720k, even though I tried to change it in the bios to 1.44, as soon...

There are some cards that I prefer over the CC IV for some oddball formats, such as 128 byte-sector MFM (which the CC IV can't handle...

Thanks, I did see that site - kinda hard on the eyes. I thought $50 was quite abit for a mouse though.

Thanks. The coating flaked off the mylar so that it is clear now. The foam is degraded. It's funny that they use that as the switch. If I put a meter on the mylar, there is no electrical conduction across the mylar.

Quote: I have one that only reads 720k 3.5" floppies, it refuses to read the 1.44 type disks, so it must be a 720K, right? Not necessarily, it could just be broken. What's the model number on it? @Jorg, Yeah, I've got boxes full of 720KB disks, I've been collecting them for awhile since I need 'em for my Amiga.

Yep, that is correct. Ethan has offered to fix my dead Japanese board. It looks like it's a rev 0 board made for the Japanese market, so I'm assuming it's not a very common item. (need to find a way to copy the roms) I'm actually asking for a friend here who has a complete PET 2001 minus a board...he actually doesn't care if his PET doesn't work, but he wants it relatively complete so that he can at least open it...

Not to hijack the thread too much, but are you or are you not having problems getting a machine to recognize a 1.44mb drive? I was offering a couple to you so you can expand YOUR testing. I know what old thrashbarg is looking for.

It probably will be of no use/benefit to you but I posted this in the off-topic classifieds area today.
Note I do have RAM that would be of use to you and a DX4 100 CPU that would be of use to you, but no " full package" with a board.

You're sure it takes a normal S370 chip? It's kinda rare to see those in laptops, usually they're either MMC cards or the special mobile socket.
Anyhow, Starmicro has them fairly cheap, if you can't find one anywhere else.

Did you try the various BitTorrent sites? I'm not advocating piracy, but if you're just missing the odd disk from a set you've purchased it's a good place to look.
