I was glad and went on to the next DVD. The sound was fine for both the first and second part I recorded, but the picture froze the last 5 minutes of the second part. Any ideas?

VLC doesn't support all audio codecs that can be used in .asf files. If there is a short sample file you could share to us, it would help.

Use Media -> Open Disc... when you play ripped VIDEO_TS folders.

VLC doesn't store anything critical to registry. Just change video output module or disable overlay. http://wiki.videolan.org/WindowsFAQ-1.0 ... _output.3F

Not easily AFAIK because sout doesn't have JPEG output module. You can store images to harddrive and link them to another http server.

All of the documention I have seen so far refers to a wizard on the File menu. I am using VLC 1.0.2 Goldeneye and I don't see a file menu or the wizard. Wizard died in 0.8.6 -> 0.9.x transition What's would be the best configuration and protocol to use for this configuration? Depends on about what you need.
