I go with adjustable all the time. I do change lengths from time to time.

Sully Strap advice needed?
Published (2009-11-27 22:56:17)
I also am leaning towards a non adjustable version with no tabs and lacing. I like a non-adjustable strap made for a particular size guitar. I dislike the busy look of adjusting straps and really dislike the little thin strips dangling around. Reminds me of the old hippy days. I just bought a 60" length of 2 1/2" strap, cut it to my length, shaped it, bevel bordered it and punched holes.

Queen family on PBS
Published (2009-11-27 17:09:38)
It was a nice film. Not great but nice. The Queens are apparently a musical family or renown in the area they live. This film has been around a bit. If you liked this one, check out, "Why Old Time"

Boak/Johnston Martin book deal

I tried to order that book set from two different sellers on Amazon, and they both canceled my order. Said it was out of stock. They referred me to this instead. Big deal.

Bot MF and ZZ cost more the you could get the guitars else where. I guess it depends on how much you want to be able to make the choice.

Well, if you like it and have the instrument at your disposal for practice, then go for it!! I'd always wished to, but never had the chance and regret it,
so I wouldn't miss the opportunity if I were you.
It will help you to see the music performance from another perspective, improve your ear training and your general skill.

Advancement in any art-making is only sometimes related to "work". A person can advance drastically by doing nothing. "Play" is
often more productive.
Each to his own.

It was a great film, Lee. But how many Martins were in there? I saw one 12
string and an OM of some kind.

I am still kicking myself for missing that concert. I could have gone but why I did not just amazes me. Jeez! I loved this clip. Very tasteful flatpicking done
very well. No show off stuff. Just good solid playing by master flatpickers doing it very well. Notice the pick grip by Tim May. differant. Rock and Roll type
of pick grip.
Too bad Mountain Music Shoppe is gone now.
I liked Cody Kilby ...

Hi Rev George,
I waited a day to see if you'd get much response to your thread.......you're not pissing in the wind here.....this approach is pretty much ALL I do
with my playing! I don't know why, but I've had little interest in doing cover songs in recent years. I'm fortunate to play with a friend each week
who shares this approach and we develop instrumentals of our own stuff together. When ...

Martin Guitars: The Boxed Set - A History and A Technical Reference.
Two book set. They come highly recommended around here. They are up near the top of my Christmas wish list.

I have a dumb question. These capos are, to my knowledge, the only ones that have specific widths--1 11/6, 1 3/4, etc. Does that mean that the E/M capo that I
put on my HD-28 really won't fit my 000-18GE, and visa-versa? I have to buy TWO $150 capos? (Not that I am buying-- hypothetical question!)

I'd say it's pretty common around here to "sell" 2, to buy 1. I think you'll find most owners of a premium guitar, aren't generally
not looking to trade, for 2 lower end models.

I like to hear something somewhat familiar yet surprisingly fresh when it comes the traditional tunes. The Holly & The Ivy or Lo, How A Rose 'er
Blooming maybe. Really hate to hear the novelty stuff, Grandma Got Run Over, etc. Gag. Ack. "Modern" classics are coming from every speaker,
Chestnuts, Frosty, Rodolph, so I don't really want to hear them at the coffee house, either. What about some ...

Back in college, I knew the whole thing and would perform it at the campus coffee house. I still play the tune now and then, but it's hard to remember all
of it now. I bet Arlo has the same trouble.
How about "Wild In the Streets"? Ha ha.
