What do other people on this board think about buybacks? Makes me feel uncomfortable. I would prefer them to amass a greater and greater cash pile, all nicely earning interest, and raise the value of the shares that way. Cash is tangible and speaks volumes. The value of a share is
intangible and most of the time pretty meaningless. Seems to me they're exchanging something solid, that ...

Hi, bought back into
Wolfson today, based on: 1. Recent significant director buying 2. WLF had fallen so as to approach a technical support level around 116p 3. Evidence of early signs of recovery in tech sector (decent results from HP today) 4. Two months of uptrend in peer group (ARM, CSR, IMG) with a short term recent pullback = buying opportunity 5. Low valuation (P/E 8.3) 6. Broker...

I'm not quite understanding how come first-half
operating profit fell if revenues rose 12 percent. For the six months to June 29 operating profit fell to $7.9 million from $10.2 million last year as revenues rose 12 percent to $100.3 million from $89.6 million. Does 'revenues' mean money coming in? Is it just because of their purchases of other companies? For some reason I had thought...

Does everyone think it's a good idea for
WLF to use its cash pile to buy its own shares? Personally, I have had novice-bound dreams of Wolfson accumulating so much cash that the share price would have to recover if only for that reason alone. Also, cash earns interest, which can't be bad for covering some of those running costs. I hate the way it seems to be a universal thing that when ...
