OE6 attachment problem

Since yesterday I am no longer able to receive attachments in Outlook Express 6. Can you clarify what you mean by that. Do the messages in OE have a paperclip icon (indicating an attachment)? Stompa

You can get it from here "free" with two sets of toner cartridges: http://www.ijtdirect.co.uk/?sct=dell1320cn That's what I did and it's a really nice printer. Instead of the single set of low capacity Dell cartridges you get two sets of high capacity remanufactured cartridges. They also offered me another set for ?40, which I took them up on, so that's three sets of toner that should last me the lifetime of...

I ran a test using DNS Benchmark to see if it would be beneficial to make the switch - http://www.grc.com/dns/benchmark.htm The result showed that I'd be better sticking with OpenDNS. It's just one test in isolation though, so not definitive. Would be interesting to see what results other people get. Derek

Google have released a public DNS service - easy to use and I've seen improvements in surfing speed. Thanks very much for that David, it's come at a very good time for me. I've been having problems with some websites, and TMF specifically, with page load times being very sporadic and hanging for annoying lengths of time. I've thought for a while now it might be DNS related, and having just tried the Google DNS settings, it...

I'm happy with the speed and reliability and tweakability of opendns. For the tinhat brigade, google is gathering too much personal information with each new tool.

The same happened to me, then I found a folder marked Downloads in My Docs. I don't believe I opted for that, but there you go.

Don't know why they didn't bundle it in. Probably something to do with the anti competitive fines that have been levied against them in the past? This way you are making a decision to use their apps.

You can move My Documents as you have said. BUT if you remove the external drive then Windows will be very upset at not finding My Documents. You cannot just move the files for W of W as the program expects those files to be on the C: drive. But you can move the videos with no problem. The lack of space on your hard drive may be a major part of your slowness problem. See my earlier post. Loir

Removing pictures will make no difference. Redundant software might make a difference if it loads anything at startup. You can check what things get loaded at startup using Run, MSCONFIG and click on the Startup tab. You can disable things here that you know are not required. It is useful to check what is actually running using Task Manager. Click on Processes and then click on CPU twice. ...

Nice, but whenever I look at colour lasers, the eye-watering consumables pop up to bite me. I wonder how many prints can come off the initial toner supplied. but there are a few problems. First is its TCO. With high-capacity colour toner cartridges running to £61 each, and an image drum setting you back £99 every 20,000 pages, the 1320cn is one of the more expensive printers in the long ...

I currently use AVG free antivirus but this is changing from 1 December and the free version won't give much protection I don't think. AFAIK the change from version 8 to version 9 of AVG will not lower the amount of protection it provides. What makes you think otherwise? I use Firefox as my ISP No you don't. Firefox is the browser program you use for looking at web sites. Your ISP is ...

You can check how processes are using the CPU in Task Manager <CTL><ALT><DEL>. Select processes and click twice on CPU. This puts the heaviest users at the top. If it is AVG causing problems then uninstall it and find another antivirus. I use AVAST but there are several good free ones. Unless you regularly go to very risky websites then you shouldn't need to scan more than once a week. Most ...

You could use Kerio Firewall (free 2.1.5 version) from here: http://www.321download.com/LastFreeware/page7.html It's old, but does a good job without the bloat of the later commercially orientated versions. Firewalls, unlike virus scanners for example, don't need to have regular software updates, so as long as you set your firewall rules correctly you should be fine. I've used Kerio on ...
