Thankyou All for your kind words, would your thoughts be that this is repairable invisably as i am happy with the gel coat as it is very resiliant to chips ect, or go the whole hog and see if i can get it sprayed if the insurance will wear it

How do they do that then? Separate rim for the spokes to fit on or do they just cover them in sealer on the inside? All the old MG ones I've seen and the ones on my Father's NG are tube types. Craig.

My Dax used to be a bit lively on the road until I set the camber correctly on both the front and rear wheels.
That made one hell of a difference and it now feels steady as a rock up to 130ish mph
I will check the tracking sometime but unless your certain the camber is correct, start there. ( I run 20psi all round in my 17" tyres too)

Davey, I'll pass on some info that I know about Halibrand. Back in the 40's, no one had lightweight wheels to offer to hotrodders and the speed trials at Bonneville salt flats. Halibrand was already playing with magnesium in the aircraft industry, so the wheels came pretty easy. As far as the orignial wire wheels, Shelby was increasing HP and torque on these light cars and eventually the wire ...

i just sorted mine out. Took the boot lock in to a locksmith and they fixed it with 2 new keys. however it cost £20 and you can buy a standard garage door lock with two keys for £11. I would advise you just buy the £11 one and 'fix' the bonnet locks to match the new keys
All depends how much you like tinkering

Having the engine in should not make any difference to the readings assuming that the chassis does not move halfway through the jacking up of the suspension.
The only thing about not having the engine in place is working out where the ride height level is going to be. On my car the suspension is about half used when is sat on it's wheels. Other cars that I've worked on have been set-up lower...
