I've grown them, but never enough to get more than a taste. We do mostly
square foot gardening. I'll often plant peanuts in with the corn to set extra nitrogen for it. Seems to be a good combination for the corn. Fun to watch the peanuts grow as they dig their blooms back into the ground. Not much of a yield though. And they take a long time to mature.

Would anyone here at the Tree be interested in starting a
seed savers exchange? The thread in the barnyard by skyking got me to wondering about that. It would be another way that we could help each other along. I don't mind sharing my addy with someone to do that. I know some people just wont do it no matter what, and that's okay too. But things are going to get tough. And the way the crops look ...

Was raised on a farm with an orchard.
Deer and bears love the fruit in fall.
My shepard would always go find an
apple to chew on.
You can fence ea . trunk with
chicken
wire , or you can fence the whole orchard.
Some deer can jump a 6 ft fence. Most
deer dont like blood meal hung in muslin
bags from a fence.
Tree bark is a natural winter forage for
a few critters.
GOOD LUCK ...

Anyone thinking about sprouting/indoor
gardening over the winter? We have an indoor grow area where we started our seeds last spring, & I am considering trying to grow some things inside this winter. It would be (like most of my gardening) totally experimental, as I have never done that before & would love to have the input of more experienced gardeners. Having some fresh homegrown tomatoes ...

Wow, that's a tough one
skyking. I have some tomato seeds here that I could send you. Since we are in the South and run high humidity they may work for you. If you could find someone like firebird in FL and some others there to exchange seeds with, that you be ideal for you. Do you want OP or hybrid seeds? I try to stay with heirlooms here but I do have some hybrids just because they do ...

I used to care for my local cemetary we were surounded by wild lands and gophers were a constant nuisence. I tried road flares, even blowing the smoke through the tunnels with a shop vac so it would engulf
the critters before they could block the tunnels. (Place the flare in a 2-3" pipe, shove into tunnel and attach vacume hose to oppisite end of pipe). You will see the smoke rise through the ...
