Maybe this list should be in a thread of it's own do you think? Even first hand personal experiences you've had with sick animals like what Summerthyme posted would be a big help and a part of the information. Btw, thanks mom, grower, and others I can't recall at the moment who have helped with advise.

Lehman's Hardware has little booklets on different topics like cooking on a woodstove or building outbuildings, for just a few bucks apiece. That might be a project/service that some "tree-dwellers" with knowledge in certain areas could do...compile the information into little e-books to post on the site...

You have to get oxytocin from a vet, or a friendly dairy farmer. It's a hormone which stimulates milk "let down" (and uterine contractions, as well) Not sure about the cayenne pepper... I usually make a salve with peppermint essential oil as well as other EO's for udder salve. But ANYthing which will soften up the tissues (and help those chapped, painful teats) and let you massage the udder so it can release any...

Who had chicken coop plans?
Published (2009-12-07 15:44:00)
I bought plans from DIY.com as advertised from Backyard Chickens. They are 63 pages of goobledegup! The instructions repeat themselves page to page and the diagrams are so faint that they cannot be read... even after printing. What a waste of money! I just want to build a coop using SIMPLE PLANS! It not the space shuttle. It shouldn't be this difficult to find good plans.

A friend in MO. passed this along this morning. AN INCONVENIENT COW Note; Just to be clear, we do not have the documents on this yet but choose to put this out now as by the time we get the documents this program will probably already be several weeks old according to Dr. Taylor Woods. This is what we have been told as of this morning 12/07/09 Red Alert! We'll, it seems we are finally here, USDA is finally mandating NAIS. Of course, they...

There is a 10' X 10' concrete pad behind the house that would be perfect to set a chicken coop on. I also have room for a run.
Do any of you have plans for a simple coop that will house about a dozen or so chickens that you would be willing to share?
I'm not much of a carpenter, but I could build a coop if I had some easily understandable plans.
All help would be appreciated. I...

I am only a beginning goat person, but as no-one else has responded I will try to help.
How old are your baby goats?
How much are they eating?
They may need to be bottle fed, or perhaps fed a pelleted milk replacer for a while.
Try to get some sugar-water, corn syrup, honey water, something down mama. I use a turkey baster for oral doses- be very careful not to force it into her throat-...

keep the buck away from the does, the buck's have a "nasty" smell to them.
Once youve tried homemade pudding made with goats milk, you'll never go back....
Clean, cold, and good feed are the things to remember.
Yummmmmmmmm

Found a gapeworm yesterday! Actually, at the time I didn't know what it was other than not a good thing. I put it in some alcohol and took it to my vet. Gapeworm was the diagnosis. This is a tracheal worm! Anyway, he recommended Levamisole in the water. Problem...can't find Levamisole anywhere. I called the vet back and he said to admininster 1/4 cc to each chicken mouth's with a syringe. I'm ...

You want them to be too big for a hawk to carry off.
One time we had some pullets about 1/2 as big as a mature hen. They had their feathers in. We started letting them range with the rest of the flock, and a hawk started picking them off. He ate well for a few days, taking one each day. We had some tom cats take some that size as well. Once they start looking like grown chickens, they are ...
