When Tiscali finally accepted that we STILL did not have a connection after they sent their first engineer, they ordered BT to attend again. This time I don't think my wife would have let the bloke out of the house had he not fixed it. He came to our home and tested the line and said "no broadband here". He went to the exchange and said "no broadband here - it's disconnected 'cause it's...

I'll be honest, I'll hang up on Customers. I get paid to do a job to the best of my ability, with the resources I have available to me. If someone comes on my phone shouting at me, swearing at me, not listening to me, I won't help them, I'll get them off the phone as fast as I can, if that means hanging up on the customer then I will ! Treat the person at the other end of the phone with a bit of half decent respect and I...

Thanks, ashleybones. While my experience is not as bad as yours, I too will be asking Tiscali for a refund for down time and phone calls. I had read somewhere, perhaps on The Scream, that there was some sort of Tech support in England, poss Milton Keynes. Has anyone else heard of this? Failing that, is there a Complaints no which is UK-based? Probably unlikely, I know, but I have to ask

It's now almost 2010 and despite the length of time this thread, and tiscali's poor service, have been going on. Things are not better, maybe worse. My recent experience is here: http://tinyurl.com/ykb2wua I'm steering clear of them for ever. -- Al

Tam, thanks for your post. To be honest I suspected as much with regards to it being automated it’s just a bit of a ‘kick in the teeth’ seeing the money go out of my account despite the lack of internet! In my experience the billings department (based in Scotland?) have always been helpful and very pleasant and as long as I do eventually get the money back for the time I didn’t have service (+ the £20 as promised) then I’ll have no...

13 days is way too long,. it's annoying but a fact that with ISPs you don't really find out how good they are until something goes wrong,. tiscali consistantly fails when you need them to do something,. at least that is my experiance.. glad you got it sorted Sil PS, did BT do something to fix it or did you need to contact tiscali to replace something in the exchange?

Thanks for your comments and sympathy. My wife is at home today awaiting a visit from BT Wholesale engineer. I spoke to Tiscali (India) yesterday who stated that they are still under the impression that the broadband on the line is 'active'. They say that the report they got from the last engineers visit said nothing of the fact that the broadband was 'bypassed'! So what did it say?! They say that the 'test' they...

How did this tortuous tale end? I'm a Tiscali customer, and whatever problems I've had have always been sorted - probably because they have been minor. I've 'heard' all sorts of tales about Tiscali's poor service, but you are the FIRST complainant-in-person I've seen.

I was on Tiscali talk & broadband package for £14.99 at the above mentioned address. When I purchased the package, I asked if I move house, my package would be transferred and I was assured that it can be moved. Few days before my move, I contacted the moving house team and informed them that I was moving and was advised that my package cannot be moved. I told them I was willing to ...

If you have LLU then there other ISP's available for less AND some are unlimited (but generally with a Fair Use policy). For example, I'm with O2 and they have up to 8Mb for £12.23, see here.

Just to follow up, I've done a bit of research on Tiscali and it seems that it's pretty common with them that they fail to carry out cancellations correctly and then try to bill people for services they've never recieved. Certainly their failing to close an account properly when asked to and then billing after ages of silence isn't too uncommon. I've come across several cases now where people ...

Not a lot you can do. As with many people you have been capped. Tiscali will deny this and there isn't a lot that can be done other than to leave them. I found the capping affects P2P, FTP and and MSN downloads through MSN messenger. It seems to be controlled automatically rather than manually as I found that if I was offline for 48 hours I would have my full speed back for a couple of days. ...

Tiscali have been very good to me over the 3-4 years i have been with them. Though currently i do have weird speed problems as tiscali seem to be limiting me or cutting me off at certain hours which is frustrating. Though after complaining to iispa they called me up and refunded me and also promised to get a technician to solve the problem. ive not heard from them since but having free internet ...

Thanks for the info TGE it seems totally wrong that tiscali waits to put in the cease order,. the downtime with no adsl needs to be minimised as most people want to leave tiscali and get a quality ISP installed on the line quickly! as an aside to others,. put in compliants to as many places as you can (esp ISPA and ofcom etc) if you even get the impression tiscali is dragging it's ...
