Yer Cheese, I did use Port Forward to forward this new modem and it worked a treat and much easier than using the TT one. I couldn't get the TT one to do anything as the details that Port Forward have for the Smartax TT modem are dfferent to the actual thing you see on the Huwaie (or however you spell the b****y thing) portal page. In as much as there is no virtual server page to set up for using p2p (well, not on my version anyway)? I...

Anonymous IT Warrior Solution to Bitcomet vs TalkTalk Why don't you just set the Listener Port to 443 then reload Bitcomment it will start as HTTPS. Then start you download all should be fine. Just tested I had the same problem only been with Talk Talk 5 days f**k them Bitcomet rules. Hope this helps if so spread the word. 115KB get in

i find the best way round it (and its not perfect) is to set port 21 (FTP) and enable forced encryption no legacy, seems to work for me im getting 150-250 downstrea compared to 50 (if im lucky) on other ports

You really ought to try their own forum it is excellent and by far and away the best I've ever experienced from an ISP. The number of customers with problems who have been given the runaround by TalkTalk's customer (dis)service department is unbelievable, but most if not all of them get some satisfactory result from the forum - and in quite a short space of time too. Go on, try them. Originally Posted by grajay lmao "number...

Try using as high a port as possible something usually above port 59000 ISP's tend not to bother blocking/throttling these ports hope this helps :-)

Read the post again, its not a ban of PTP its just priorortising(not sure of the spelling there) other traffic.

The encryption method will work - but torrents will download at a fraction of what they should... You can install soulseek - it is a very lightweight p2p program. No fancy graphics or animations. It only has what you need ^^ that doesnt appear to have been affected by the filtering. You can also use a proxy, public proxy servers are available, they might not be very fast - but they will work. You could also get access to a private proxy server...

Between 16:00 and 00:00, TalkTalk restrict their service. They call it "managing traffic" but what they mean is blocking online games, P2P downloads or anything that isn't web browsing or e-mail. They do this so the web browsing speed stays good during "peak" hours allegedly. What they fail to realise is that a large number of broadband users use their connection for things other than e-mail...

There was an issue with talktalk blocking the ports on WOW bit these ports where opened up again after a number of customer complaints. I am aware of other customers that play WOW without this disconnection problem. As above can you please let us know if this is happening during only WOW or during normal every day surfing. Is the a time trend to this and do you have any other applications ...

Are you on the talktalk network. Many ISPs will not allow use of the smtp server if you are not on their network. Check your username /password for the account Make sure you have not turned on SSL (ie use port 25 not 465)
