Hey y'all, I ran across this article the other day and figured I would share it here... I usually use the polarized glasses in the sun line, but here is a visual on how to check your glass for temper. http://www.salt-city.org/showthread.php?t=9542

How about a DIY needle wheel? Anyone attempted this before? I only need a temp. solution as I plan on building a 75 gal bow front over the next several months from the ground up with the exception of the tank itself.

overflow out of a back filter?
Published (2009-11-20 16:30:00)
If you can't or don't want to drill the tank, then a siphon overflow is really the only option that I can think of. Some people never have a problem with them, while others have them fail often. Definitely something you should check often if you try it.

Running a switch like that can cause problems. It's best to wire up a relay. Here is a good explanation on the relay and a place to buy a switch. http://www.aquahub.com/store/curingspik.html http://www.aquahub.com/store/ifloatfloatswitch.html

I found stuff that looks like the mesh inside the tank divider that SantaMonica recommended in his early design. It is used to pull yarn through and make rugs. Those dividers cost over $15.00 at the lfs and they are too short for my needs. Again my frame is 12 X 24 inches, the panel that I bought is 13 x 21.5. I bought a short one also. They both are 13 inches wide. My wife said she could sow ...

It will not work. You cannot match the drain and return pump together for extended periods. Sooner or later one will slow down and either the sump or tank will overflow. A true overflow system is controlled by only the return pump. However much water goes up is how much comes down the drain. As long as you don't exceed the drain capacity, it can't overflow. Good pics and info here on ...
