Considering what you're shooting, you might do better if you consider yourself a starving business man, instead of a starving artist.

one pic of my truck for you......

I'm not really digging the bridge in the background. I like the truck and the location, but I think you could redo the photo shoot and process it a bit differently afterwords. Good luck!

I took Derrel's advice and turned off high-speed sync and set the shutter speed to 1/250 this time. I think that did it.

The tire tracks in the sand distracts me from the subject--not the ones leading away from the truck but the ones in the lower left.
#1. Nice background........really nice but the subject is dull.
#2, dull background & dull subject= nothing stands out for me. If the truck was painted a bright or glossy color the photo would be nice.
Off topic: That truck rocks besides the paint job!...

The top right part of the pic is distracting me. Looks like a cool b&w pic with all the shadows.. I just wish there was more light on the face of the statue.

If you are serious about showcasing your work, you will probably want to have them look at something other than flickr. It just seems as though a business/client would be impacted to a greater degree when viewing photos on a personal site. Unfortunately, I have never ventured into this realm so I cannot steer you in the right direction, but good luck!

I think the second one is pretty good. Of course I have no idea how to do HDR but it would be something I'd be really proud of!! Nicely done. Wish I could give you some C&C but just wanted to let you know what I thought.

Number 2 is alright for a cell phone shot. All of the pictures are too blurry for me. I can stand the bad image quality due to using a cell phone, but did you add diffusion or blur of some kind to these photos? If you did, it's a bit much for me. For number 2 I would crop out the "tree?" on the upper right and straighten the horizon.

#1 - frame your subjects, don't cut limbs (fingers, heads, toes). unless you're going 3/4 length, or 1/2 length
#2 - light your subjects not the tree. Long exposures - HOW LONG - 1/10second? - your subjects might move. 1/30, 1/15 - maybe, a lot depends on subject. IF you'll be doing that, then shoot with flash OFF camera in CLS with builtin just setting off the speedlyte. See if it'll work in "...

I am not that experienced, but it's a bit overexposed for me. I'd also crop the top right corner just a little bit.

I paid ~45 for mine at Bestbuy. Has a built-in level which is fairly accurate. If it's tipping with a heavier lens, you might need to tighten one of the adjustment knobs. If it's as tight as it goes, then it might be defective, or just a piece of crap.

#1: I like that contrast too, but I think the ladybug is to small. IMO you should have zoomed in a little more.
#2: You are totally right. I love it when I take a nice shot by accident.

memorizing. I could stare at the 1st one for quite some time. In Fact I did. :-)
The only thing that I may have done different is to move the sun to the left or right a little and move the horizon down to the bottom 3rd of the photo instead of right in the middle.
I love the colors of the 1st photo as opposed to the 2nd.
Nice work.

@iolair. Thanks alot. I will try spot metering asap hope it works.
@Ann. Thank you for input. Well my iso was on auto actually. And yes my images were pale and dark so I thought to put the exposure dial up to +0.7.
And about shutter speed, I was using program mode. I don't know how to correctly tweak shutter and aperture for indoor or low light

800 is what I've seen them retail for brand new on Adorama, so I'd say that's a great price to get for a used one.

you mean 18-55 3.8/5.6
now get your self wide angle and telezoom. Generally, brand name glass is pricy 3rd party are cheaper but those are like flavors. some ppl love them, others HATE them. it is very subjective.
good luck
