I am buying the Nikon D90 tonight at Costco. I am simply buying there because if it doesn't work out I can take it back within 90 days. It comes with the 18-105mm DX VR Lens. My question is for anyone in the know or who has the D90 with this lens. The size of the lens is perfect, but I am concerned about the quality of this lens. Is it going to be sufficent for someone ...

I got one of these flashes with a Nikon FG I found at a pawn shop the other day and I was wanting to use it to shoot a concert coming up. Problem is, I have no idea how to use it and I can't find a manual on the internet. I will be using a 28mm f/2.8 lens and Ilford Delta 3200 Film. Does anyone know anything about this flash? Thanks in advance!

So, my cousin Danny invites me with him to shoot this wedding for his two friends who are getting married. We get there a few hours early and take about 200 pictures between us before the wedding even starts. so, before the wedding starts, i dump all of the pictures i had taken on my laptop (about 120 of them). So, the wedding begins and im shooting away, doing my best to keep my ground. This ...

Well I have been having a problem with colorspaces lately. I guess I never noticed it. I would edit something in Photoshop CS3 and look at it in Windows Picture Viewer and it would look totally washed out.. They use different color spaces, Photoshop was using Adobe RGB, and windows was using sRGB 2.1. So I changed my photoshop to sRGB2.1 and I got the things on MY computer to look right.. But...

I see quite a few on amazon. Anyone been through them that can suggest the best? Ideally, the book would have sections on both indoor and outdoor portraiture. Lighting and posing fundamentals for various subjects... male, female, fat people, thin people, dark skinned, fair skinned etc..

I've been asked to take pictures of our town's outdoor Christmas in the Park event, particularly of the main attraction which is the lighting of the town's name and logo in candles. They will light the logo up in candles and want pictures of this, which they will use for the town's Christmas/winter cards and for other publications. Tripod, obviously. How much would I have to up the ISO? I ...

Noise is supposed to be generated, among other circumstances like high ISO speeds, when the camera has gone past its black level. If so, I am confused as to why taking a photograph of complete darkness shows no signs of noise . Is it because the photosites remain virgin? The photo is as black as it gets, and still, is just that a block of pure black, as opposed to a less dark, but still pretty ...

well, havnt been on here much at all, busy times. havnt had much inspiration for photographs lately either.... but had an idea that i want to try one night, but not sure where to get light. what would you recommend for a flash to give a soft glow such as moonlight. i plan for this to be a long exposure shot, and will need the light to be a flash, cant be constant. also, tight budget....

Those Nikon fools! I buy they're D40, and what? They come out with a preview photo for their D90 exactly like the one I took months before it came out! It's not just like my photo, it's almost the same composition and exactly the same subject! I'm buying a Canon next time Nikon, tsk... tsk... Picture: http://www.nikonusa.com/Assets/Digit...46_D90_ER3. jpg D90 page with picture: http://...

I have a handful of shoots in my mind, but all of them have serious obstacles in the way, so I just get to keep sitting on them, not doing them. I figure I'm not the only one with this problem, so I thought it might be fun to share our just- out-of-reach photo ideas. One of mine is that I would love to take a series of pictures of well-dressed students in a classroom that's clearly been ...

Get rid of your kit lens. Low light nearly always has trouble with focus. As does very contrasty scenes, as does working with very wide open aperatures. Shooting with proper lighting shouldn't be a problem with your D40 or autofocus. But yes, very low light and moving subjects are a bad combo for any camera to try to focus on.

so from pretty much everywhere i've read i've seen that they will trigger to a max of around 30 feet. that's plenty of distance for me really, but i wanted to test it. i set my flash outside of my garage and ended up getting 148 paces away from it and it would still cire consistantly. not really sure how big my stride is but im 5'9" so i'm guessing around 2.5- 3 feet. does this seem odd to ...

Hi, I used to do time exposures using a Minolta X-700 with a multi-function back and Kodachrome 100. But it's a real hassle to get that film processed in Canada. I know that the DSLRs have a problem with noise when doing low light scenes. Does the new D90 eliminate it, or at least significantly reduce it? I am thinking of doing multiple exposures as well.
