I'm kind of insulted that she insulted Starship Troopers. I kinda liked that movie. It wasn't that terrible. And it wasn't meant to be taken seriously. It was a fun ride. Just like NuTrek. All flash and little substance. Therefore, it's a perfect comparison.

Sorry guys...I should carry sign around my neck saying: "Don't mention The Matrix near this guy, unless you want an earful." It's just that I worked in video rental shop when that movie came out and I either got people coming up to me saying: "Did you see The Matrix? I didn't get it. I didn't understand they were in artificial reality." I watched the movie and I'm like five steps...

François Truffaut has said that anti-war movies are impossible to make because the audience will automatically get drawn into the glamour and excitement of war, but Starship Troopers is one of the few exceptions as it is so utterly exaggerated that even the last dumba*s should get it. It's antifascistic without nazis, a fine achievement; and in case ones doesn't care about the meaning, it is just a fine action movie. Yeah, another...

I took Star Trek XI in to school on the last day to show to some of my kids since I have had the Star Trek theme running in my class for the last term and wanted to put it into a bit of perspective for them. There were not many kids in as it was the last day but the kids who were mostly enjoyed it or would have moaned no matter what movie I had put on (there is no pleasing some kids). So yes, Star Trek does appeal to the younger generation....

I watched it the other day and remember thinking that it was odd that he
ordered Power to forward shields and then the ship got hit in the neck.
I'll have to watch that scene again. It may have been more a flaw in
editing than in story.

I wouldn't go that far. It was not designed to be a rehash of TOS.
I don't agree with everything that was done, but they tried to make a new series out of it.

Yes. Plus as an homage to the original Pike who was wheelchair bound.

Actually since that was all deleted out we have no reason to worry about it since it is not part of the final film.
It's superflous to the point of the film.
However, in fairness the 25 year gap is a slightly problematic area. But only because they decided to bring the Narada back at a time in which it coincided with James Kirk's birth. And it is true that the more they try and explain ...

I don't know about that. I'm not saying it wouldn't work, it's just that I'm having a hard time picturing a Klingon yelling "kitchy kitchy koo"!

Agree completely, just bought the first season on Blu-Ray, waiting for the sequel just to hear " Spock... we have... to get out of here!", hopefully they throw it in.

Poll needs to be multiple choice:
Klingons Take Over Narada
Young Kirk, Young George, and Uncle Frank
Klingon Interrogation and Breakout

I guess there could be several theories -
1 - Since there was a single nacelle ship seen previously then it's obviously not essential to have two in order to create a warp field that is stable and powerful enough for the ship to travel.
2 - There is the more established theory that a starship needs to have nacelles which operate in pairs (therefore you can have only 2, 4, 6 etc) but not 1,...
