The 1st season is enjoyable on many fronts IMO. It has a semblance of TOS camp to it even

I don't mind the early Ferengi so much, the 'Code of Honour' episode I swear was something pulled right out of the 1960s...

Perhaps because Justman was aboard and e.g. the 'planet of the week' stage was lit with the same psychedelic colours as twenty years ago.

I wonder what the TNG films looked like to the non-fans in the audience (besides seeming to confirm to them that ST in general was every bit as nerdy as they had always wanted to assume). My point is, here we are agreeing (I think?) that the TNG films are lacking in scale or scope next to the originals. And yet, from Generations on, I think you can clearly see there is more money up on the screen than there had been for any of the TOS films...

I think each movie (even V) had some good points and some not so good. All eleven films. There are places in every single one of the movies where I can get up and go the the bathroom or pop some popcorn and leave it running. There are places in the movies I rewind and watch more than once. I am a Star Trek fan and I love all 5 series and all 11 movies! Some more than others. When I went to the opening of each movie i was blown away and I would...

Yeah, Berman had stayed on Trek too long. All sorts of stuff have been coming to light recently about how Berman disapproved of this idea or that idea--and went with something that was worse, IMO. I don't see how highly implausible clones were any better than a time travel story about paths not taken...

Easy. On the way home from Genesis, the Enterprise was attacked by klingons. At least, that's the theory I've heard.

I like your mini-reviews, short and to the point. The differentiation between Trekker and non-Trekker ratings is a great idea, multiple perspectives are always helpful. If I may add a little detail about Cochrane, your view that he was idolized over the time which lead to a biased TOS Cochrane (perhaps the historical recreations from "Savage Curtain" also vary from their real counterparts ?)...

An actor will hardly say anything bad about a movie before it hits the theatres, especially not if he has co-written the story.
