Welcome to this site, 1966vdub. Denalis are heavily faked. The easiest way to tell, is to fold it in half from top to bottom, a genuine item should be several inches thick at that point. TNF does package and ship items in plastic bags, there should be barcode sticker on it. In a retail store, you wouldn't expect there to be bags since they expect customers to try things on. IMO this jacket is authentic. It's called the Mimbre jacket model AA7T and was only available in brown. The Earth pattern appears correct. It was limited edition and is on page 9 of my Fall 2009 North Face catalog. The info says it's part of the Prodigy series of jackets. See Ya, Steve

Hm... very interesting... The AETT (w's auxiliary jacket) is listed as summit series - But as far as I can see your jacket is a sample sale (from the outer tags - the inside marking on the TNF neck tag would also indicate this. I find the claims of breathable water-proofness to be exaggerated. I don't like the term, so I tend to use water-resistance or "water-proof" (quoted). It's easy to make something water-proof but much harder to make it breathable at the same time.
