Hi Nikki I am glad that the advice you have been given has helped. It is a really good idea to try DD with some yogurt. It will be nice and cool and gentle on her tummy. If you have any more worries, you know where we are. Ellie

5 month old with strange mark
Published (2009-12-04 22:52:00)
Hello Alexis I can quite understand your anxiety about the blemish on your 5 month old sons arm. Nothing I can say will diminish that worry. But I can say that there are lots of different types of skin blemishes or birth marks, as I am sure you have discovered during your internet search. Some develop after birth, can grow for a while, then fade. The main thing is to identify what type it is. The dermatologist will do that and hopefully...

I am only saying what I would to (I may be wrong) I would give sweetened/orange juice diluted water till the problem was sorted then long term dilute the solution with more water and less other stuff gradually over time.

If I were you I'd get him back to the GP asap or to a walk-in centre. Don't wait 48hrs if he's in such pain.
You could try major bribery to get him to wee - chocolate, sweets, anything he wants. It tends to work for my DS. My DS
(2 1/2yrs) had balanitis a while ago which made his 'willy hurt' a lot, be red & swollen and lots of discharge. The GP might have swabbed for this or it might ...

Hi Hayley,
Sorry to hear about situation! My daughter is also 2 years 3 months, and can be exactly the same. I also had PND and it really does affect your confidence with your child!
My LO gets frustrated and trys to hit me and break things aswel, and there have been times where i shout thinking it gets the point across, but in my case it makes her do the same. I just tend to leave her, ...

Hello
You are definately not over-reacting, you really should get her eye checked out at the hospital. My friends little boy had the same thing happen to him and he suffered a lot with it. He has ended up with long term damage to his eye.
My friend is a Netmum, so I will ask her to come and speak to you, but my advice would be to go and get it checked out ASAP

Hiya Jane
Bearing in mind DD's history, I think for the reassurance you need you should arrange to have DD seen by a doctor.
You are understandably protective and it's right that you should be able to access all the support you need.
How do you feel about giving your GP a call Jane?

Hiya Janine
I can see that you are concerned about DD, you are right, the best thing to do is have her seen by your GP.
It may well be a good idea to take a water sample with you. I'm not sure about your surgery, but at mine they will only accept them in the containers they give out. Could you pop in and get one prior to the appointment so that you can take a sample with you?
Do ...

Hello Jolene
Umbilical hernias are quite common. It is safe and generally pain free for them to lie on their tummies if they have one. If it was painful under pressure she would cry out if you pressed on it - so this would be the same if she was lieing on the floor.
Try some tummy time with her, and be guided by her reaction. If she doesn't complain - then i would let her enjoy the ...

Hiya Sharron
I am sorry that you feel so low at the moment.
The symptoms you describe are symptoms which can be associated with anxiety, panic and/or depression. On that basis I would really encourage you to talk things through with your GP. If your GP feels that you need treatment he/she will talk to you about what treatment is recommended. You would then be able to make an informed...

Hiya Michelle
The Department of Health guidelines state that babies should not be weaned until they are 6 months old. Therefore if you were to consider weaning early, I would encourage you to discuss this with your Health Visitor.
All babies are different but we would anticipate that formula/breast milk would be the main source of nutrition until the age of about 1. At 1 milk ...

hi there, my lo has been teething for the past 4 months and now has 8 teeth, so Ive tried and tested most methods of making things easier for them at this painful time.
best thing to do is apply some teething gel prior to feed, or I have found the teething granules help. at the peak of my LOs pain I was giving her three doses of nurofen a day to keep her fever down too.
she also loved ...

Hi, sorry to hear your having problems getting your baby to bed. We have had this quite alot with our little boy he would cry so much and make himself sick too. I'm sorry I don't understand all of what you wrote.
I am shocked that a&E discharged her but I don't know what else you can do. If you daughter has a doctor insist they refer her to paediatrics. If she doesn't have a doctor get her registered asap.
My LO had some fit type episodes at around 2 months old. We mentiond it to the peadiatrition at a routine appointment who immediately sent us ...

Hi there a personally we gave our DS1 baby rice at 3 months old and it made such a difference to him. All i did was adjust the quantities to make it thinner.
What i would say though is if you do give it to him he may need small drinks of boiled cooled water to make sure he doesnt get constipated.
A lot of people wil probably say no but we did with all 3 of our little ones!

You mention that he pulls is legs up tells me that he has tummy pain. High temp, loose poo can be down to teething.
I think it would be time to take him to the doctors as you said he has had his jabs and he is like this.
Maybe a reaction to the jabs??
Calgel i have used on all 3 of my kids and it is greaat maybe give that one a try.
Hope this helps just a bit hugs to you all

Goats milk formula shouldn't be given to babies as it doesn't contain the nutrients that they need at that age.
What's your reason for giving the goat's milk? If you think there's a problem with cow's milk, it's best you see a medical professional who can recommend and prescribe a suitable formula.

He sounds alot like my middle son who is now 3 1/2 years old and who was exactly the same at your sons age.
Had a family support worker to help with his eating but nothing we tried really worked.
From about 2 years old kids know their fave foods and are also learning the art of the tantrum which makes things extremely difficult especially if your son is as strong willed as mine.
He is...
