One of the only times I've ever thought the word "fortunately" and the word "amputated" could be used in the same sentence! ;-) actually works quit often <g> as one of my Doctors said after one of my major things: "Unlucky you had the thing. Very lucky we caught it time to fix it" Happy Cricksmas =

Fortunately, you had Squeak's leg amputated soon enough to save her life. It is obvious to you now that it was the correct decision! One of the only times I've ever thought the word "fortunately" and the word "amputated" could be used in the same sentence! ;-) Calabogie

Your picture reminds me of my long-haired calico named, appropriate, Calico. She was the love of my life and lived to be 20 years of age before I had to have her put down. Donna (who still misses her Calico)

Hi back at you, and welcome to the board, Donna! Sorry, I tend to talk a lot so this is long. 1) Vaccines: I own two dogs and a cat. The cat in indoors only. The dogs are well traveled and visit beaches, dog parks as part of our regular lifestyle. I have chosen to have my dogs fully vaccinated (3 year rabies) including with the Lyme disease and the new canine flue vaccinations because they do get out an about so much. I can’t be sure who or...

Evidence of God
Published (2009-12-27 15:53:00)
Time to start downsizing the pack, I decided. Four dogs are too many. Time to get sensible. I'm not young anymore, or strong, or capable, and I'm getting gimpier by the day. What's more, I'd recently announced that I would never have a pit bull in my house, they're just too unpredictable, too risky, too scary. When a co-worker said he'd love to own a pit bull, I was mystified. Why on earth would anyone want a pit...

I asked for, and received, a Furminator for Christmas. I hope I'll have the same good results that you've had with it. One of my longish-haired cats likes to be brushed/combed, and I know she'll appreciate the new device. The other two, who are prone to matting, do NOT like to be brushed. One in particular gets mats the size of California, and she's the least enthusiastic about being groomed. I literally have to hold her...

Hi Donna! I'd say your best bet is to go with your vet's recommendations. We have a situation where Becca got her rabies shot from a vet who does 3 yr shots and Braith got her's from a vet who does yearly shots. My only problem is trying to keep up with who needs to be checked out and when ;0) What kind of dog is June Bug? We actually had a little dachshund in our area by that name. I found the name rather intriguing. LWW

I predict that one or both cats will decide that mom is the human they need to take up with. Hopefully, mom will be like you, and the cats will win her over! That was a really great story in just a few lines. Let us know how it goes. You gotta love the holidays on so many levels :) Rita

Happy Holidays from Donna, June Bug, Charlie, Sissy, Jessica and Boo. Got June Bug (dog) a Christmas present today and she loves it. (A squeaky football - very small to fit in her mouth), and got my neighbor's Shih Tzu a "rubber" squeaky Christmas stocking. Soooo cute. How would we post pics onto TMF? I can't find my USB for my telephone and will get one Saturday to replace it, so I...

All but one cat stays inside all the time, and I take the dog for walks. I have read on several websites that a rabies shot is too strong to be given yearly (re: cats) my Vet recommends annual Rabies shot for The Cat (who's indoor only) doesn't recommend any other shots. ...FWIW we also use Advantage and haven't seen any fleas =

so .. i grab her, try to wrap her in a towel at take the scissors to her... but MUCH squirming, much more pathetic crying -- FAIL. You have my sympathy. We assume this has something to do with allowing them to start quicker and take turns sharper but really never knew the answer. I've looked around the web but I couldn't find anything about why this may happen. I would tend to think the same. I wonder if it happens primarily with herding breeds? Back when we were riding, our cutting horses would get their haunches low as they made ...

Well, I certainly think the new camera was worth it. Great pictures -the coat colors look great (and some of the facial expresions are pretty good too). The pictures definately made me smile. Not all dogs who react the way Big Guy does have been abused. Our next door neighbor had a dog who was terrified of thunderstorms. She was on puppy prozac from the time she was about 3. She was never abused, just scared of loud booming noises. Her owner reported that the vacuum had the same effect on her. However, the fact that he was found out wandering means he could have been ...
