YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's wonderful, really. That debt was so big, and so overwhelming. I sometimes had the feeling that it was beating you to your knees, it was so big. And you've survived, and it's under control, and soon it will be dead. We will definitely do a hamsterdance that day. Nancy

Add Wife to Accounts?

this entire thread has been about the need for a separate credit card from your spouse (emergency card) in case your other cards get stolen. That is what I've been talking about: I don't get the need for an "emergency card" apart from the normal every day cards that are used. If you're talking about things getting stolen - then what is to stop someone from stealing your emergency card along with the others? If...

Citicard Change

With the effective date moved up to December 1st (not sure if this bill has been signed yet but I expect it will be) for credit card regulation, getting these changes in before Turkey Day is a race against Congress to lock in near usury terms while they can. The fact that Dodd introduced a 'stricter' bill, rather than using the one that had been passed by the House and then introduced into the Senate, makes it less likely, IMO, that...

<<Who is hiding? If you'd actually read my posts you'd see that I'm not against using a credit card in an emergency - I'm against putting charges onto an emergency credit card that you do not have the cash to pay off immediately (before the next cycle).>> Schucks--- one of the great reasons to have cash or credit available is to be able to get yourself out of a disastrous situation. And I've even thought of another reasonable use of separate cards: sometimes people who travel on business are required to put travel expenses on their own card and be reiumbursed later. There are many such examples: For instance, wifey and I shared a card but lost one of them. To cancel the lost card required canceling BOTH cards. As earlier mentioned, sometimes banks get wiggy when a spouse dies and will lock down all joint accounts....

You're describing live oaks. White oaks also tend to hold onto their leaves through the winter. If you want nice color and leaf drop, I would suggest planting red oaks. PSU

If you're talking about things getting stolen - then what is to stop someone from stealing your emergency card along with the others? If your answer is to store it somewhere where they can't get it apart from your other cards - then you are presented with the same problems... so what do you do at 2am, 14 miles outside a major city? If husband and wife each have at least one separate credit card, then both would have to have all...

Chase card down! Just paid $3217.07. That leaves only $4900 on a BOA Visa that is 0% until March. At long last, for the first time in years we will not be paying even a little bit of credit card interest (the Chase card was at 3.99% BT for life). So, still have $4900 in debt but that is at 0% and is our only non-mortgage debt. DM can't wait until I can post "and then there were none"

Since you have two long standing accounts and the ones closed were short term, it isn't likely to make much difference. You can request a free credit report annually from each CRA, but it doesn't include a FICO score.

I think it's fine to charge an annual fee. They used to do so, and there will probably be many companies that either still will not at all - or will not for good customers (ie those who charge a lot). Those cards would be the ones I'd choose in future. I personally think the idea of maintaining cards for free for people who never use them and keep them in a drawer just for their ...

To ensure your rights are protected, I would dispute the debt to the second collector (including your original dispute to the earlier collector). This is a better safe than sorry approach. Having not been verified after your dispute, the debt should never have been assigned to a second collection agency, but it clearly has fallen through the cracks.

You can specify which types of purchases you want to pay in Full each month and those amounts will be listed separately on your statement. Yeah, I got this notice, too. When I got it, I wondered what the value was in in. I'm still not sure why it would be so valuable to pay off specific items, and not pay others. Debt, just like money, is fungible. These days the amount of interest you can earn in lieu of paying off the balance is minimal, and in my opinion not worth the risk of missing a payment date and being saddled with a default rate. But if you can make it worth your while and have the discipline to make the minimum payments on time, then go for it. Fuskie Who cautions that the period before and after international travel (...
