Did you mean to say , " the rich man and Lazarus "? ( Luke 16:19-31 ) Yes. And to continue the thread, this is what Rand was fighting: http://reason.com/blog/2009/11/09/now-playing-at-reasontv-re... 100,000,000 dead, victims of Communism between 1917 and 1989. The count, of course, is not finished. And it's close cousin, fascism or national socialism (as opposed to international socialism), continues in places like Iran.

Katinga , Did you mean to say , " the rich man and Lazarus "? ( Luke 16:19-31 ) If this a parable , it is the only one in which Jesus gave a name to one of the characters . ( Source : NIV Study Bible note on verse 20 )

Psalm 121 Ezekiel 46:1-47:12; 1 John 2:12-17 The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who lived in a land of deep darkness -- on them light has shined. Isaiah 9:2 Paul wrote: You are all children of light and children of the day. 1 Thessalonians 5:5 Almighty Life-Giver, young children have much to teach us. They are like sponges, soaking in new experiences and meeting challenges head on. May we follow their lead and...

I find this support for Rand and objectivism on this board surprising. The following Rand quotes are from the official Ayn Rand Institute FAQ ( http://www.aynrand.org/site/PageServer?pagename=faq_index#ob... ). On conservatives and altruism: [Conservatives] are paralyzed by the profound conflict between capitalism and the moral code which dominates our culture: the morality of altruism. Altruism holds that man has no right to exist for his...

BTW, have you noticed the unemployment rates? Including the record underemployment rate? Including the comparison with 0bama's projections vis-a-vis The Stimulus? I'd like a link please. Specifically a reference for your suggestion that President Obama projected that The Stimulus would have a beneficial effect on the employment rate before the end of 2009.

I found no scripture regarding gambling. We know the scripture states that we are to work with our own hands producing something good so that we may have something to give those who are in need. In your opinion is it ethical/unethical, Biblical/not Biblical to day trade or trade futures?" It appears on the surface that this produces nothing good per se, yet we all know scripture is interpreted differently by various individuals,...

I concede that short-sighted people live all over the place. I also concede that some of them run business. On the other hand, I also see many of them in politics. There are courts, thus damage suits are valid. It is in my self-interest to have practices in place that do not bring costly suits. So even if I do not purchase food from the farmers downstream, they could sue me for damages to their property and business. My self-interest depends...

No question that Ayn Rand was anti-Christian and anti-religious to an extreme, an interesting position given her opposition to an ideology that is aggressively anti-relgious. That does not change the validity of Atlas Shrugged as an idea, that idea being that when government interferes too much with enterprise, the entrepreneurs go on strike. That is what is happening now, and Atlas ...

I read that H1N1 is primary spread through the air, and that hands are secondary--in contrast to seasonal flu. Thus the primary public health measure is to stay home if you have a cough. Does that corroborate with what you wrote?

The Parables of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl Matthew 13: 44"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. 45"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and ...

I often speak about the weakness I see in the church. Do I do the work that God has given me to do? Are there others that are not doing the work that God has prepared for them to do? Ephesians 2 10For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

We believe that the church should help take care of their own members and then do our best to help those in the world . Indeed, care for the poor, the sick, and the widows was the principle evangelism tool in the initial centuries of the church.

Yo! BABY! 19. Let her charms keep you happy ; let her surround you with her love . That's appropriate. We heading to a B&B this weekend. She broke her I-phone so we have to travel to Dallas to get it fixed. I just paid for the B&B in Tyler. It should be nice. Be 30 next year. Told my youngest I will pay for the extra to take the semester in Greece, but it means I don't get to buy...
