I store my gas tank empty. There's two schools of thought on that. One is the "old school" process which is to fill it up and that allows for less condensation. The newer train of thought is to store it as empty as possible, and let it condense. (Even though I store mine in a heated garage). The gas will have condensation and will be "old" in the spring, even with StaBil. With less gas, there's...

I try to shop at the local shops more and more. I find the prices are comperable to the big guys or cheaper. Usually more knowledgable also.

Never made it out this morning. Was a little leery with the fog and not being too familiar with the launches and water depths out that way. May try this afternoon if the wind stays down. Updates on the Crocker launch would be appreciated! Thanks, LL

I've been using nets by Ranger Products from Detroit for years now. Never had a problem or complaint. I replace the bag once every two years and I'm good to go. A lot less expensive than the big name stuff and good quality. Plus it's a local company and you can pick them up at the factory. I've put fish up to 42lbs in the one I have now and have no plans on changing it. I have an 18' boat and the handle on mine...

Really any of those would be a good choice. I personally have a Frabill which I like a lot. Beckman seemed like a very solid net and was a close second to the Frabill.

There is a launch at the foot of Alter Road at the Detroit and Grosse Pte. Park border. If you watched the MUCC walleye fishing show today, they launched from the St. Jean ramp which is a little closer to Belle Isle.
