Thanks for the info. In what order would you rank the various Colt SAA clones? I know it's an opinion, but that's OK by me. This is one of my "must haves", so it'll get in the collection eventually, one way or the other.

Ruger NM Blackhawk .45 Auto/Colt...

I bought the 4 5/8" barrel because it was the first one that became available. The .45 Convertible is really hard to get right now. Especially the 5.5". That was actually the length I was looking for, but after a few months of looking, this one popped up on Bud's and I bought it. Now that I've shot it quite a bit, I'll say it is one of the nicest handling single actions I've shot. The balance is darned...

I have seen and handled both Uberti (but not Beretta, which now owns Uberti) and Pietta, and I rate them...

Colt 1903 made in 1934
Published (2009-11-22 19:40:00)
I looked it over and the finish is a nice blue, not reblued and not the older bright blue. All the roll marks look right & crisp with sharp edges. The magazine is original - two tone, marked colt .32 on the bottom plate as is the walnut grips with Colt medallions. The barrel is bright, no pitting. All the small parts look right. Is there something else I should be looking for? BTW :The dealer guarantees it to be 100% original or money...

Colt new service repair
Published (2009-11-23 21:42:00)
Recently my father gave me my great grand fathers old colt new servvice revolver chambered in 44-40. It has a broken crane so i found a replacement crane for it and i was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction on where to find instructions on how to properly install and and set cylinder gaps and ect ? Other than the crane it is in good shape i believe it was manufactured in 1905.

Rough Riders are okay for the price. I would not say they are comparable to a Uberti -- far from it. They work, and they're priced right. That's about it. For $200 I'd buy it, but don't expect stellar accuracy.

Very nice. I'm looking for a SA Colt clone of some type myself. I had a 10/2" Super Blackhawk. It was a great revolver. I probably should have kept it and had the barrel cut down to some reasonable length (I'm not a hunter). It turned into a Walther P99 at a gun show (great pistol). Amazing how that happens... Can I ask why you chose the 4 3/4" barrel vs. the 5 1/2" barrel? Just ...

I only have two, target customs. Bought used in the shape they're in for a fraction of what somebody paid new. Smooth as butter actions and more accurate than I !!!!!!
