This sticky may also be of help. http://forum.m1911.org/showthread.php?t=37357 Remember to take your time and remove just a little material / fit / remove / fit / etc. Don't try to get it perfect on the first shot or you will likely overdo it.

I admit I don't know anything about the Taurus 1911's. Do they have titanium firing pins? If so, that doesn't help. I'd switch it out for steel if possible. Do they have firing pin safeties? If so, there are a host of problems that could be caused by that. The firing pin could be dragging on some part of it (I'm guessing a plunger of some sort), it could be dirty, some other part could be out of spec. If it has one,...

Recommended sear ?
Published (2009-11-23 02:49:00)
I just got back from checking out the EGW action kits myself. I really like the sear fitted to the hammer. It's a very nice set. I think this is the set I'll go with. We have a good 1911 smith here locally. He is very particular (I appreciate that though) and only works on quality 1911's and AR's. He'll appreciate a Colt with a request for an install of an EGW action set.

How to remove ejector pin??
Published (2009-11-26 13:34:00)
You may not have to remove the ejector. there is a wicking grade of lock Tite that may work. It has for me in the past but I don't remember the grade offhand. Just lift the ejector up as far as you can, put the Locktite in around the pin, push down and secure, wipe the excess and let set up.

Barrel swap
Published (2009-11-30 01:29:00)
If a Colt barrel is still good, would it be better to just ensure fitting, tighten the slide to frame fit and install a match bushing or should an aftermarket barrel be used? If the answer is to get a new barrel what is a good stainless barrel to use? All opinions welcome. Thank you.

I would just get a Wolff spring/rebuild kit for factory spec which includes a 16lb recoil spring and a 23lb mainspring. You really should be fine with that. By the way, did your EGW bushing drop in or was some fitting involved?

What are you hoping to accomplish? If you need a top-flight bullseye gun for serious competition, a new barrel MIGHT be better. Otherwise, I don't see the point.

The Ed Brown won't, as I think all they make are the "fitting required" types. A Wilson High Ride beavertail will, though.

That happened to me also after I detail stripped the first time. I disassembled and reassembled and it was OK.

We've had some reports on Taurus 1911s needing a replacement mainspring, almost from new. It's a good idea to have some spares, anyway, so you might as well get some Wolff springs.

Your old link may not work in your new barrel. What kind of barrel did you get and why?
To get it out you just knock it out with a punch. It should be staked in, but many aren't and will push out easily. Clean up the hole, if it was staked, drive in a new one, and stake it in with a center punch. Then stone off any high points made from the staking. Make sure you support the legs while ...

I'm no physicist but I'll give it a shot.
The amount of force produced when a shot is fired is a constant. There is nothing you can do to change that given a specific ammunition loading and pistol. It is a product of the mass of the projectile, its velocity, and the mass of the pistol.
What can effect perceived recoil, though, is the duration of time that it takes to transfer this ...

I think this might be what your looking for: http://forum.m1911.org/showthread.php?t=13060 .
It's not an oversized fps. It's a small radius fps.

I've seen Wilson Combat installing these fps lately on their pistols. I do not know if they show them on their "Parts" listing though, call and ask them.
Oversize means it will require some fitting in order to go in your pistol. That's a good thing, it reduces any play there, so your extractor is not allowed to clock (rotate in its tunnel) and the stop is a relatively tight fit in the slide...

Forget cruffler.com. That site hasn't been maintained for several years.
Do you have a Sistema (made in Argentina), or do you have a Colt (Argentine contract)? There is no such thing as a "Sistema Colt." If you have a Hartford Argentine contract Colt, all parts will drop in. The Sistemas were built in Argentina using machinery and tooling obtained from Colt, and everything I have seen or ...
