The only thing that jumps out right away is that there's a touchpad and a mouse(?) maybe try launching with just the touchpad active if you're using an external mouse. (just to see if the games hanging waiting for either it or the touchpad's drivers). Other than that on the main launcher screen click the first of the buttons in the upper right corner (its the one with the single down-arrow) and choose Options. In there under...

It happened AGAIN. Can I just come back here and bump this ****** thread every time this bug occurs rather than filing bug report on top of bug report? EDIT: I did submit another bug report, and I'll start doing it EVERY time it happens until it's fixed. I won't keep bumping this thread either, even though I'd like to. The bug reports seem to go off into a black hole somewhere, while this thread remains visible to me, which...

Update: For no apparent reason I was able to log back into the game again. I did nothing but step away from the computer for a hour. Alas, it was short lived. About twenty minutes after logging back in I experienced this "root" again and noticed my 42ms ping had a 1.7% packet loss. This lasted for 30-45 seconds until it let go and went back to 0% packet loss. Then again three minutes later I was "rooted"...

Tell your little brother to quit downloading warez while you play LotRO. Seriously, if you are in a multi-PC household, a user downloading large files can impact game performance. If that is not the case, you should try the troubleshooting steps in the sticky: http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=107727

More detail would help. I was running XP32 bit with an hd4870 with no lock up problems, and then upgraded to win7 64 bit (same gpu) with (I think, have to check when I get home) October's catalyst package). No lock up problems there either.

Over the years this game and wow and AC , and others, I have had many issues with my voice chat and my sound. By many I'm going to guess 5 or 6 but it has been a lot of years (10) total. It seems like once a year I have a sound issue. So far deleting sound drivers and reloading sound drivers fixed my issues. I have no idea why that occurs.

I'd like to say that I've been having problems with LOTRO working with my GeForce 8800GT under XP. When I loaded Windows 7 beta the problems disappeared and I was able to crank up the graphics all the way. When I reloaded XP back to a clean install and loaded the GeForce drivers the old problems were back. Hopefully when I load the release version it runs clean again and I can start playing ...

Are you sure it's the game and not patches ? If you've installed the game and activated an account on the turbine site you should be firing up the game launcher and it should go out and look for patches before moving onto the login phase.
