Update: I was talking to someone I play DDO with and they said they had a similar problem and just had to reinstall DDO. I figured I would try this out on DDO since it's a smaller file and won't take as long to install. Well, I reinstalled DDO and it still doesn't run, so I guess that means a reinstall won't help me get LOTRO running.

If you don't have TDM installed or have uninstalled it in the past (it's not required to run/patch the game), most likely you will not have a C:\Program Files\Turbine\Turbine Download Manager folder. I had a really bad time getting Lotro to run with anything short of complete reinstallation (several times actually) when going from xp to win7 (the game was installed on a separate drive, but didn't run properly or recognize any of the data on said drive). Delete your USERPREFERENCES.INI and re-launch the game. The file is located in \My Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online in Vista & Win7.

Okay, after some thorough digging, I figured out how to get the corrupted nvidia drivers off and the issue seems to be resolved. I'm doing a romp through Lorien right now to see if the freezing has stopped. Will post if I have further issue.

I'm having the same problem. I used to be able to run 2 clients 1 on each monitor but since SoM its giving me that error I've tried the go old right click run as admin and that's not working either. I'm kinda at a loss me thinks this is turbines way of preventing running 2 clients on the same machine. But who knows.

I have had the same issue. "Surging" seems to be the best way to describe the issue too. I can be in an area with lots of people or soloing a mob with nobody around. I'll start casting something and all animation will freeze for a fraction of a second or more. Then it will be back to 60 FPS. Very odd problem ... only seen it since SoM. I found that turning off DX10 Graphics helped.......

I'd like to say that I've been having problems with LOTRO working with my GeForce 8800GT under XP. When I loaded Windows 7 beta the problems disappeared and I was able to crank up the graphics all the way. When I reloaded XP back to a clean install and loaded the GeForce drivers the old problems were back. Hopefully when I load the release version it runs clean again and I can start playing ...

Visit Tom's hardware to view the top cards at different pricepoints. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-graphics- card,2464.html Anecdotally, I'd slap a 5770 in there, as then you'd be ready for the LOTRO DX11 Client due next year.
