Well Mr Writerman, have done as you suggested — originally downloaded 2.1.1 which is for Snow Leopard so downscaled to 2.0.5 which suited this Leopard. And yes, the volume needed to be repaired so went on to Repair Permissions. Got several Warnings: SUID file xyz has been modified and will not be repaired. (Thinks to meself: OK, don't!) I've got them, and the only problems I've had since I ordered the equipment was because of interference from France Telecom Orange, who are *still* charging me for my land-line -- I must get that sorted out. I don't even use the television stuff, but the long-distance calling has been a godsend. And their tech crew is great.
