vindex1963, it looks like some version of the Springfield 'Trapdoor'. There should be a serial number on the barrel or receiver that would help pin down it's age and specific variation. Steve Mace

I have neither (russian) but I'll make an educated guess and say the polish is a much better made pistol. I've looked at many polish and romanian firearms and polish are head over heels better made.

Well I think .45 LC has a nominal bullet diameter of .451 to .452". If .455 Webly is truely .455 bullet diameter that would put it .003 to .004" bigger. Most rifling is only about .003" deep in bullet / cartridge guns so it could make a big difference. However, I would add that I don't exactly see .455 Webly ammo as being common and all that available. OTOH, If I was to do a Martini rifle...
