Friend came across this yesterday in an old box of grandpa's stuff. Never seen a bullet like this before. Meaning with what seems to be a brass tip? Stamp on bottom of cartridge is 300 SAV REM-UMC.

I ran 100 rounds of their 9mm through my sub-guns recently. No failures and it was accurate, however, it was extremely dirty.

I don't think I will buy them again.

Hungarian light ball. Avoid the surplus heavier grain ammunition because it's loaded hot (was originally intended for heavy MGs). This is pretty good stuff as well

This link may help you figure it out. http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinAmmoID01.htm#Pack aging Look at the bottom of the page it will give you some explaination of the top of the spam cans. It looks to me as being, 7.62, Light ball steel core silver tip, Bimetallic (copper washed steel) case, 1980 prod., 440rds but that is just a guess.

I perfer Silver Bear, or any other ammo over Wolf. Couple of reasons. Wolf is very dirty. Wolf lately has not had consistant loadings. And finally, when ammo started to get hard to find, Wolf assured us that they had boatloads of it entering the country. Funny how long it took them to unload. I have also had issues of Wolf polycoat ammo that after the chamber started getting hot, it started ...
