Dave, thank you! I take that as a great compliment, and I appreciate it! I had an amazing trip - journey of a lifetime - and I certainly don't intend to wait that long again before hitting the road for somewhere new. And hey, both of those shark dives were with trained professionals! This time, I was on my own all over this vast and varied land of ours, and it felt really good to be out there traveling everywhere - if I didn't need...

Hi Serra, What a great adventure and well done, give yourself a big pat on the back. I have really enjoyed following your journeys [as so many others have with over 900 views] in which you have accomplished so much. I'm not sure why you was a little worried to start with, I mean you swim with sharks ;-) Lol! Quote: This trip has been so good for my soul, and I hope it won't be another decade before I set out on another road trip, no...

A little more info on IBA rides. After the ride I put all of my receipts in orderby time and made a copy of them. I also made an Excel spread sheet showingevery stop for every day. Each entry had to show when and where for everyminute of the day for 10 days. I needed at least one receipt for all 48 states. My first gas receipt was my start time and my last receipt was my end time.I also had to make a map showing my route. I sent all of this...

The link you provided isn't working, but doing a search I found what I think was the right place , but they didn't line up with yours exactly. My results were World Heritage - 100%, with a few educated guesses Explorers - 70% (although I protest that a couple I said South America, and the answer was Amazon River, or answered Canada, and Nova Scotia was the right answer) Extremes - 50% (although again, I protest that I said Canada was...

The Sunday Chicago Tribune had its annual Geography Challenge, this year XIX. I got all of the World heritage Sites in the Americas correct. Some I knew, most I had to use the map and pictures. Matching 6 of 10 Should have done better after teaching explorers all those years. Multiple Choice 70% Weather Conditions 100% Teacher's Challenge 90% Midwest Match 3 of 8--And I live here. These were T-O-U-G-H!!! Talk about your obscure stuff....

I just completed my first week on this trip , which still has quite a few weeks of fun and exploring ahead! So far I've traveled a total of 2,530 miles. That's definitely a lot and it's going fast, but I knew the trip out west would, because I have many more stops I want to make on the more southern route headed back east. Plus, I love to drive - I love being on the road! When I want or need ...

This is my first post, and I look forward to reading much of the forum in the coming days and weeks! Last August I drove US 24, a highway which begins in Pontiac, MI and goes past Colorado Springs and up towards Vail. Some photos and info can be found on my website, but I wonder if anyone else has done this trip? If not, it is a backroad humdinger! US 24 runs N/S between Detroit and Toledo, ...

Me and the missus have done two roadtrips in the US now, neither of which are particularly extraordinary but are probably pretty common for visitors to the US. We got some really, really useful advice from many people on this forum and I promised myself that I would write a report of our trip when I got back. I imagine that most of what you’ll read has been posted a million times before, but ...

Liz and I just finished a 16 day trip to North and South Carolina. Along the way, we visited 19 new NTN sites for trivia, took a drive along the National Road from Zanesville to Cambridge, Ohio, and got down with the Mayberry folks in Mt. Airy, NC. Visited with family and spent two nights apiece in Topsail Beach, Carolina Beach, and Myrtle Beach. Went to the Spot Festival in ...
